And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith, which he had yet being uncircumcised; that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised ; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also: And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abra

And they came with hafte, and found Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it, wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard, and seen, as it was told unto them. And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his Name was called JESUS, which was fo named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb. you Gentiles ; if ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God, which is given me to you-ward : how that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery (as I wrote afore in few words, whereby when ye read ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) which in other ages was not made known unto the fons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy Apostles and Prophets, by the Spirit ; That the Gentiles should be fellow-heirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the Gospel : whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power. Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unlearchable riches of Christ, and to make all men see, what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in

On the COLLECT for the Epiphany. O God, who, directing the eastern sages by a star, (Matt. ii. 9.) didit discover that thy only begotten Son was manifest in the flesh, (I Tim. iii. 16.) and that the gentiles would be made partakers of salvation, we befeech thee of thy mercy to grant, that whereas, thro' thy divine goodnefs we that were formerly gentiles, have now, by faith, attained to the knowledge of thee, which is however but an imperfect knowledge, a knowledge in part, and seeing thro' a glass darkly, (1 Cor. xiii. 12.) we may in the life to come, enjoy the knowledge and happiness of the beatifick vision, when we fall know.even as we are known, (ibid.) and be forever with the Lord, through Jesus Christ our Lord. God, who created all things by Jesus Christ : To the intent that now unco the principalities and powers in heavenly places, might be known by the Church the manifold wisdom of God, according to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.
The Gospel. St Matt. j. i.
the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise-men from the east to Jerusalem, saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews ? for we have seen his ftar in the east, and are come to worship him. When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judea : For thus it is written by the prophet: And thou, Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda : For out of thee ihall come a Governor that shall rule my people lsrael. Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise-men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go, and search diligently for the young child, and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may cone and worship him also. When they had heard the king, they departed; and lo, the ftar which they saw in the east, went before then, till it cane and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down and worshipped him : And when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. The Epistle. Rom. xii. 1. Beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God,
that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God. For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
