13 This is the Water of Meribah, because the Children of Ifrael ftrove with the LORD, and he was fanctified in them.

22 And the Children of Ifracl, even the whole Congregation, journied from Kadesh, and came unto Mount Hor. 23 And the LORD fpake unto Mofes and Aaron in Mount Hor, by the Coaft of the Land of Edom, faying,

24 Aaron fhall be gathered unto his People: for he shall not enter into the Land which I have given unto the Children of Ifrael, because ye rebelled against my Word at the Water of Meribah.

25 Take Aaron and Eleazar his Son, and bring them up unto Mount Hor:

26 And ftrip Aaron of his Garments, and put them upon Eleazar his Son and Aaron fhall be gathered unto his People, and fhall die there.

ND when King Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt in the South, heard tell that Ifrael came by the Way of the Spies; then he fought against Ifracl, and took fome of them Prifoners.

2 And Ifrael vowed a Vow unto the LORD, and faid, If thou wilt indeed deliver this People into my Hand, then I will utterly deftroy their Cities.

3 And the LORD hearkned to the Voice of Ifrael, and delivered up the Canaanites, and they utterly deftroyed them and their Cities: and he called the Name of the Place Horimah.

4 And they journied from Mount Hor by the Way of the Red Sea, to compafs the Land of Edom and the Soul of the People was much difcouraged because of the Way.

5 And the People spake against GOD, and against Mofes, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt, to die in the Wilderness? for there is no Bread, neither is there any Water, and our Soul loatheth this light Bread.

6 And the LORD fent fiery Serpents among the People; and they bit the People, and much People of Ifrael died.

7 Therefore the People came to Mofes, and faid, We have finned, for we have fpoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD that he take away the Serpents from us and Mofes prayed for the People.

8 And the LORD faid unto Mofes, Make thee a fiery Serpent, and fet it upon a Pole: and it fhall come to país, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, fhall live.

16 For GOD SO LOVED the WORLD, that he GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, that whosoever BELIEVETH IN HIM,

fhould not PERISH, but have EVERLASTING LIFE.

17 For GOD fent not his SoN into the World to CONDEMN the WORLD; but that the World through him might be SAVED.

18 He that BELIEVETH ON HIM, is NOT CONDEMNED; but he that BELIEVETH NOT, IS CONDEMNED already, becaule he hath NOT BELIEVED in the Name of the ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD.

19 And this is the CONDEMNATION, that LIGHT is come into the World, and Men LOVED DARKNESS rather than LIGHT, because their DEEDS were

2 And Balak the Son of Zippor faw all that Ifrael had done to the Amorites.

3 And Moab was fore afraid of the People, because they were many and Moab was diftreffed, becaufe of the Children of Ifrael.

4 And Moab faid unto the Elders of Midian, Now shall this Company lick up all that are round about us, as the Ox licketh up the Grafs of the Field. And Balak the Son of Zippor was King of the Moabites at that Time.

5 He fent Meflengers therefore unto Balaam the Son of Beor, to Pethor, which is by the River of the Land of the Children of his People, to call him, faying, Behold, there is a People come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the Face of the Earth, and they abide over against me.

6 Come now therefore, I pray thec, curfe me this People, for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I fhall prevail, that we may fmite them, and that I may drive them. out of the Land: for I wot that he whom thou bleffeft, is bleffed, and he whom thou curfeft, is curfed.

7 And the Elders of Moab, and the Elders of Midian departed, with the Rewards of Divination in their Hand; and they came unto Balaam, and fpake unto him the Words of Balak.

8 And he faid unto them, Lodge here this Night, and I will bring you word again, as the LORD fhall fpeak unto me: And the Princes of Moab abode with Balaam.

9 And GoD caine unto Balaam, and faid, What Men are thefe with thee?

10 And Balaam faid unto GoD, Balak the Son of Zippor, King of Moab, hath fent unto me, faying,

II Behold, there is a People come out of Egypt, which covereth the Face of the Earth: Come now, curfe me them;

perad

peradventure I fhall be able to overcome them, and drive them

out.

12 And GOD faid unto Balaam, Thou fhalt not ga with them, thou fhalt not curfe the People: for they are blefied.

13 And Balaam rofe up in the Morning, and faid unto the Princes of Balak, Get you into your Land: for the LORD refufeth to give me leave to go with you.

14 And the Princes of Moab rose up, and they went unto Balak, and faid, Balaam refufeth to come with us.

15 And Balak fent yet again Princes, more, and more honourable than they.

16 And they came to Balaam, and faid to him, Thus faith Balak the Son of Zippor, Let nothing, I pray thee, hinder thee from coming unto me:

17 For I will promote thee unto very great Honour, and I will do whatfoever thou fayeft unto me: Come therefore, I pray thee, curfe me this People.

18 And Balaam anfwered and faid unto the Servants of Balak, If Balak would give me his Houfe full of Silver and Gold, I cannot go beyond the Word of the LORD my GOD, to do lefs or more.

19 Now therefore, I pray you, tarry ye alfo here this Night, that I may know what the LORD will fay unto me

more.

20 And GoD came unto Balaam at Night, and faid unto him, If the Men come to call thee, rife up, and go with them; but yet the Word which I fhall fay unto thee, that fhalt thou do.

21 And Balaam rofe up in the Morning, and faddled his Afs, and went with the Princes of Moab.

22 And God's Anger was kindled, because he went : and the Angel of the LORD ftood in the Way for an Adverfary against him: Now he was riding upon his Afs, and his two Servants were with him.

23 And the Afs faw the Angel of the LORD ftanding in the Way, and his Sword drawn in his Hand: and the Afs turned afide out of the Way, and went into the Field and Balaam fmote the Afs to turn her into the Way.

24 But the Angel of the LORD ftood in a Path of the Vineyards, a Wall being on this Side, and a Wall on that Side.

25 And when the Af faw the Angel of the LORD, the

thruft

thruft herself unto the Wall, and crufht Balaam's Foot against the Wall: and he fmote her again.

26 And the Angel of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrow Place, where was no Way to turn either to the Right Hand or to the Left.

27 And when the Afs faw the Angel of the LORD, fhe fell down under Balaam: and Balaam's Anger was kindled, and he fmote the Afs with a Staff.

28 And the LORD opened the Mouth of the Afs, and the faid unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou haft fmitten me these three Times?

29 And Balaam faid unto the Afs, Becaufe thou haft mocked me I would there were a Sword in mine Hand, for now would I kill thee.

30 u And the Afs faid unto Balaam, Am not I thine Afs, upon which thou haft ridden ever fince I was thine, unto this Day? was I ever wont to do fo unto thee? and he faid, Nay.

2 Pet ii. 15 Following the Way of Balaam the Son of Bozor, who

loved the WAGES of UNRIGHTEOUSNESS;

16 But was rebuked for his IniquiMan's Voice, forbad the Madness of ty: the dumb Als fpeaking with the Prophet.

31 Then the LORD opened the Eyes of Balaam, and he faw the Angel of the LORD ftanding in the Way, and his Sword drawn in his Hand: and he bowed down his Head, and fell flat on his Face.

32 And the Angel of the LORD faid unto him, Wherefore haft thou fmitten thine Afs thefe three Times? behold, I went out to withstand thee, becaufe thy Way is perverfe before me.

33 And the Afs faw me, and turned from me these three Times unless he had turned from me, furely now alío I had flain thee, and faved her alive.

34 And Balaam faid unto the Angel of the LORD, I have finned; for I knew not that thou ftoodeft in the Way against me now therefore if it displease thee, I will get me back again.

35 And the Angel of the LORD faid unto Balaam, Go with the Men: but only the Word that I fhall fpeak unto thee, that thou fhalt fpeak: So Balaam went with the Princes of Balak.

36 And when Balak heard that Balaam was come, he went out to meet him, unto a City of Moab, which is in the Border of Arnon, which is in the utmost Coast.
