ING WE aloud unto God our Strength; make a chearful Noise unto the God of Jacob take the Pfalin, bring hither the Tabret, the merry Harp, with the Lute. (P. lxxxi.)

2. Blow up the Trumpet in the new Moon; even in the Time appointed, and upon our folemn Feast-Day.

3. For this was made a Statute for Ifrael, and a Law of the God of Jacob: this He ordained in Jofeph for a Teftimony, when He came out of the Land of Egypt, and had heard a ftrange Language.

4. "Thou calledit upon me in Troubles, and I deliver❝ed thee, and heard thee what Time as the Storm fell 66 upon thee: I proved thee also at the Waters of Strife.

5. Hear, O my People, and I will affure Thee, O Ifrael, if thou wilt hearken unto Me; there fhall no "frange God be in thec, neither fhalt thou worship any ❝ other God.

6. "I am

36. I am the Lord thy God, who brought thee out of "the Land of Egypt; open thy Mouth wide, and I will "fill it..

7. But my People would not hear my Voice, and Ifrael would not obey Me; fo I gave them up unto "their own Heart's Lufts, and let them follow their own "Imaginations.

8. that my People would have hearkened unto "Me: for if Ifrael had walked in my Ways, I fhould "have fubdued their Enemies, and turned my Hand a"gainst their Adverfaries.

12. I will fay unto the Lord, Thou art my Hope and my Defence; my God, in Him will I truft.

13. For He thall deliver thee from the Snare of the Hunter, and from the noifome Peftilence: He shall defend thee under his Wings, and thou fhalt be fafe under his Feathers; his Faithfulness and Truth fhall be thy Shield and Buckler.

14. Thou shalt not be afraid for any Terror by Night, nor for the Arrow that flieth by Day; nor for the Peftilence that walketh in Darkness, nor for the Sickness that destroyeth in the Noon-Day.

15. A thoufand fhall fall at thy Side, and ten thousand at thy right Hand; but it fhall not come nigh thee.

HYMN XXXIII.

Morning.

I. OW AMIABLE are thy Tabernacles, O Thou Lord of Hofts! My Soul longeth, yea, even fainteth to enter into the Courts of the Lord; my Heart and my Flesh rejoice in the living God. (Pf. lxxxiv.)

2. Yea, the Sparrow hath found her an Houfe, and the Swallow a Neft, where fhe may lay her Young; even thy Altars, O Lord of Hofts, my King and my God.

3. Bleffed are they that dwell in thy Houfe; they will be always praifing Thee.

4. Bleffed is the Man whofe Strength is in Thee, in whose Heart are thy Ways:

5. Who going through the Vale of Mifery, ufe it for a Well, and the Pools are filled with Water;

6. They will go from Strength to Strength, and unto the God of Gods appeareth every one of thein in Sion.

7. O Lord God of Hofts, hear my Prayer; give Ear, O God of Jacob.

8. Behold, O God our Defender, and look upon the Face of thine Anointed.

[ocr errors]

9. For one Day in thy Courts is better than a thousand : I had rather be a Door-keeper in the House of my God, than to dwell in the ents of Wickedness.

10. For the Lord God is a Sun and a Shield; the Lord will give Grace and Glory, and no good Thing fhall He withhold from them, that live a godly Life.

II. O Lord God of Hofts, bleffed is the Man that putteth his Truft in Thee.

12. IT is a good Thing to give Thanks unto the Lord, and to fing Praises unto thy Name, O moft High. (Pf.xcii.)

13. To fhew forth thy loving-Kindness early in the Morning, and thy Faithfulness every Night; upon an Inftrument of ten Strings, and upon the Lute; upon a loud Inftrument, and upon the Harp.

14. For Thou, Lord, haft made me glad through thy Works; and I will rejoice in giving Praise for the Operati

ons of thine Hands.

15. O Lord! how glorious are thy Works! thy Thoughts are very deep.

16. An unwife Man doth not well confider this, and a Fool doth not understand it.

17. When the Ungodly fpring as the Grafs, and when all the Workers of Wickedness do flourish, then fhall they be destroyed for ever; but Thou, Lord, art the most High for evermore.

18. For lo, thine Enemies, O Lord, lo, thine Enemies fhall perish, and all the Workers of Wickedness shall be destroyed.

19. But mine Horn fhall be exalted, like the Horn of an Unicorn; I fhall be anointed with fresh Oil: mine Eye also shall see my Defire upon mine Enemies, and mine Ear fball hear my Defire of the wicked that rife up against me.

20. The Righteous fhall flourish like the Palm-tree, and fhall fpread abroad like a Cedar in Libanus.

21. Such, as are planted in the Houfe of the Lord, fhall flourish in the Courts of our God: they alfo fhall ftill bring forth Fruit in their old Age, and fhall be fat and well-liking; 22. That they may fhew how true the Lord my Strength is, and that there is no Unrighteoufnefs in Him.

23. BLESSED IS the Man whom Thou chafteneft, O Lord, and teacheft him in thy Law; that Thou mayeft give him Patience in Time of Adversity, until the Pit be digged up for the Ungodly.
