Here they read, with heartfelt pleasure, Their escape from endless woe. 2 Here they see their pardon sealed, Through the Saviour's precious blood; Here that heavenly robe's revealed, Which so sweetly fits for God. 3 Here they see the road to glory, Through their Christ, the living way; Here they learn that blissful story, Which shall bless to endless day. 4 0 that many here may feel it Fastened home, with power divine; By the Holy Spirit sealed, 56 To His glory hence to shine! Prayer for Blessing. 1 O MAY these heavenly pages be And still new beauties may we see, 2 Divine Instructor, gracious Lord, 57 Teach us to love Thy sacred Word, God's Word Powerful. 1 THE Spirit breathes upon the Word, C.M., C.M. 2 A glory gilds the sacred page, 4 Let everlasting thanks be Thine, 58 As makes a world of darkness shine The Scriptures Abiding. 1 THE heavens declare Thy glory, Lord! The varied things that meet our eyes Abundant evidence afford L.M. That Thou art great, that Thou art wise. To lift a sinner from despair. 3 Not from Thy works, but from Thy Word, 5 Not so Thy Word-it stands secure ; The blessed truths that it contains Eternal are, and shall endure L.M. When nothing of this world remains. 59 Prayer for Divine Light. 1 GREAT God, when we Thy Word behold, Its sacred truths to us unfold; For we can never learn aright Without Thy gracious help and light. 2 Open our eyes, that we may see The wondrous words declared by Thee; Open our hearts, that we may feel The mighty love those words reveal. 3 The saving light of life impart, And seal Thy favour on the heart: Give us true faith, Thy Word to prize, And make us to salvation wise. 60 61 The Word of Man and of God. Like that immortal meat? C.M. 2 Thy truths, O God, with heavenly bread Thy children's needs supply; And those who by Thy Word are fed Divine Teaching. 1 O God of wisdom, God of might, Great Ruler in the realms of light, 8's.
