Jesus comes, and through the sky

Angels tell their joy aloud.
Hark! the trumpet's awful voice

Sounds abroad o'er sea and land :
Let His people now rejoice;

Their redemption is at hand.
2 See! the Lord appears in view ;

Heaven and earth before Him fly.
Rise, ye saints, He comes for you,

Rise to meet Him in the sky:
Go and dwell with Him above,

Where no foe can e'er molest;
Happy in the Saviour's love,

Ever blessing, ever blest. 341 • Every Eye shall see Him.' 1 AND must we see that solemn day,

And rise to view His face,
From whom the heavens will flee away,

And earth obtain no place ?
2 Yes ; every eye shall see Him then,

In all His majesty ;
No more to be the scorn of men,

As when He came to die.
3 And He will kindly say to some,

Who here His grace possessed, • Ye blessed of My Father, come

To My eternal rest.' 4 But those who never sought His face

Will hear the awful sound, ' Depart, ye cursed, to the place

Where hope is never found.'

5 The righteous then will sweetly know

Salvation's of the Lord ;
The wicked feel, in endless woe,

That death is sin's reward.

342 The Day of Judgment. 8.7.4.
1 Day of judgment, day of wonders !

Hark! the trumpet's awful sound,
Louder than a thousand thunders,
Shakes the vast creation round;

How the summons
Will the sinner's heart confound !
2 Every eye shall then behold Him,

Robed in dreadful majesty ;
Those who set at nought and sold Him,
Pierced and nailed Him to the tree,

Deeply wailing,
Shall the true Messiah see.
3 At His call the dead awaken,

Rise to life from earth and sea ;
All the powers of nature shaken
By His look prepare to flee ;

Careless sinner,
What will then become of thee?
4 But to those who have confessed,

Loved and served the Lord below,
He will say, Come near, ye blessed,
See the kingdom I bestow;

You for ever
Shall My love and glory know.

343 What will ye do ? (Isa. X. 3.)
1 SINNERS, attend God's solemn word,

Who still your mad career pursue ;
When He girds on His dreadful sword,

And comes in wrath, what will ye do? 2 Say, have you made this world your choice?

Is this the all you have in view ?
Hear Heaven's expostulating voice,

• In that dread day what will ye do ?' 3 Ah! see this most tremendous day

Of visitation hastes to you ;
Nor youth nor health can it delay ;
And in it, О what will

do?
4 If you should live in sin, and die

Without a heart made clean and new,
God's justice must to you come nigh;

And in that day what will ye do?
5 He'll call you to His judgment-seat,

And bring your sins to sad review;
Nor can you from His face retreat :

And in that day what will ye do? 344 Day of Judgment.

1 And will the Judge descend ?

And must the dead arise?
And not a single soul escape

His all-discerning eyes ?
2 How will my heart endure

The terrors of that day,
When earth and heaven before His face,

Astonished, shrink away ?

The mansions of the dead,
Hark, from the gospel's cheering voice

What joyfuị tidings spread !
4 Poor sinners seek His face,

Whose wrath they cannot bear, Fly to the shelter of His cross,

And find salvation there.

Ye must rise when Christ appears,
Rise to hear your dreadful sentence,

While the saints rejoice in theirs :
You to dwell with fiends infernal,

They with Jesus Christ to reign ;
They go into life eternal,

OPENING SCHOOL. 346 Prayer for the School. S.M.

1 SHINE on our Sabbath school,

Thou God of mercy, shine !
The eyes that look to Thee are ours;

The hand that gives is Thine.
2 Our teachers sow the seed;

Do Thou their labours own ;
The final increase must proceed

From Thee, and Thee alone.
3 Thy Word is in our hand;

O may Thy grace impart

To each a mind to understand,

And a believing heart !
4 Thus may Thy Spirit bless ;

Nor let Thy favour cease ;
For wisdom's ways are pleasantness,

And all Thy paths are peace.

The Lord's Day.

C.M. 1 ONCE more we keep the sacred day

That saw the Saviour rise ;
Once more we tune our youthful song

To Him that rules the skies.
2 What numbers vainly spend these hours

That are to Jesus due !
Children and parents, how they live,

And how they perish too !
3 O may the God who gave our lives,

And thus far led us on,
Be pleased to train our infant minds

To know and love His Son !
4 Teach us Thy way, while here we learn

To read Thy heavenly Word ;
Bless all the kind instruction given,

And make us Thine, O Lord. 348 Blessings Implored. L. M. 1 ASSEMBLED in our school once more,

O Lord, Thy blessing we implore ;
We meet to read, and sing, and

pray,
Be with us, then, through this Thy day,
2 Our teachers, Lord, be pleased to bless,

And crown our studies with success;
