Accept, O Lord, my heart,
To Thee myself I give ;

Nor suffer me from hence to stray,
Or cause Thy saints to grieve.

B. BEDDOME.

EOPLE of the living God,

7s.

Plave sought the world around,

Paths of sin and sorrow trod,
Peace and comfort nowhere found;
Now to you my spirit turns,

Turns, a fugitive unblest;
Brethren, where your altar burns,
O receive me into rest!

2 Lonely I no longer roam,

3

Like the cloud, the wind, the wave;
Where you dwell shall be my home,
Where you die shall be my grave:
Mine, the God whom you adore,
Your Redeemer shall be mine;
Earth can fill my heart no more,
Every idol I resign.

Tell me not of gain or loss,
Ease, enjoyment, pomp, and
Welcome poverty and cross,

power;

Shame, reproach, affliction's hour; 'Follow Me!' I know the voice, Jesus, Lord, Thy steps I see; Now I take Thy yoke by choice, Light Thy burden now to me!

THOU whom my soul admires above
All earthly joy and earthly love,

Tell me, dear Shepherd, let me know,
Where doth Thy choicest pasture grow?
2 Where is the shadow of that rock
That from the sun defends Thy flock?
Fain would I feed among Thy sheep,
Among them rest, among them sleep.
3 Why should Thy bride appear like one
That turns aside to paths unknown?
My constant feet would never rove,
Would never seek another love.

4 The footsteps of Thy flock I see:
Thy sweetest pastures here they be:
A wondrous feast of love appears,
Bought with Thy agony and tears.
5 His dearest flesh He makes my bread,
For wine His richest blood is shed:
Here to these hills my soul will come,
Till my Belovèd lead me home.

PRAYER FOR REVIVAL.

L.V.

GREAT Lord of all Thy churches! hear
Thy ministers' and people's prayer
Perfumed by Thee, O may it rise
Like fragrant incense to the skies!

2 Revive Thy churches with Thy grace,
Heal all our breaches, grant us peace;

Rouse us from sloth, our hearts inflame
With ardent zeal for Jesus' name.

3 May young and old Thy word receive: Dead sinners hear Thy voice and live; The wounded conscience healing find, And joy refresh each drooping mind. 4 May agèd saints, matured with grace, Abound in fruits of holiness;

And when transplanted to the skies,
May younger in their stead arise.
5 Thus we our suppliant voices raise,
And, weeping, sow the seeds of praise;
In humble hope that Thou wilt hear
Thy ministers' and people's prayer.

EAR, gracious Sovereign from Thy throne,

And send Thy various blessings down; While by Thine Israel Thou art sought, Attend the prayer Thy word hathi taught.

2 Come, sacred Spirit! from above, And fill the coldest heart with love; Soften to flesh the rugged stone,

And let Thy Godlike power be known.

3 Speak Thou, and from the haughtiest eyes Shall floods of pious sorrows rise:

While all their glowing souls are borne
To seek that grace which now they

scorn.

4 O let a holy flock await,

Numerous around Thy temple gate;
Each pressing on with zeal to be
A living sacrifice to Thee!

REVIVE Thy work, O Lord,

Thy mighty arm make bare ;

S.M.

Speak with the voice that wakes the dead, And make Thy people hear.

2 Revive Thy work, O Lord,

Disturb this sleep of death;

Quicken the smouldering embers now,
By Thine Almighty breath.

Revive Thy work, O Lord,

Create soul-thirst for Thee;

And hungering for the bread of life,
O may our spirits be!

Revive Thy work, O Lord,
Exalt Thy precious name;

And, by the Holy Ghost, our love
For Thee and Thine inflame.

Revive Thy work, O Lord,
And give refreshing showers;
The glory shall be all Thine own,
The blessing, Lord, be ours.

PRAYER FOR INCREASE OF

EVANGELISTS,

LORD of the harvest, hear
Thy needy servants' cry;

Answer Thy people's earnest prayer,
And all our wants supply.

2 On Thee we humbly wait;
Our wants are in Thy view;
The harvest, truly, Lord, is great;
The labourers are few.

Raise up and send forth more
Into Thy church abroad;

S.M.

And let them speak Thy word with power,
As workers with their God.

Give the pure gospel word,
The word of general grace;

Thee let them preach, the common Lord,
The Saviour of our race.

O let them spread Thy name;
Their mission fully prove;

Thy universal grace proclaim,
Thine all-embracing love!

ORDINATION AND RECOGNITION OF

626

MINISTERS.

L.M.

FATHER of mercies! bow Thine ear,

Attentive to our earnest prayer;
We plead for those who plead for Thee;
Successful pleaders may they be !
