Psalm xvii. 1, 3, 5-8, 16. Psalm xviii. 28. Nine O'Clock. HEAR the right, O LORD, consider my complaint and hearken unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips. Thou hast proved and visited mine heart in the night-season; Thou hast tried me, and shalt find no wickedness in me: for I am utterly purposed that my mouth shall not offend. O hold Thou up my goings in Thy paths: that my footsteps slip not. I have called upon Thee, O God, for Thou shalt hear me: incline Thine ear to me, and hearken unto my words. Show Thy marvellous loving-kindness, Thou that art the Saviour of them which put their trust in Thee: from such as resist Thy right hand. Keep me as the apple of an eye: hide me under the shadow of Thy wings. But as for me, I will behold Thy presence in righteousness: and when I awake up after Thy likeness, I shall be satisfied with it. Thou also shalt light my candle: the LORD my GOD shall make my darkness to be light. D Psalm xiii. 3, 5, 6. Ten o'Clock. CONSIDER and hear me, O LORD my GOD: lighten mine eyes that I sleep not in death. But my trust is in Thy mercy and my heart is joyful in Thy salvation. I will sing of the LORD, because He hath dealt so lovingly with me: yea, I will praise the Name of the LORD most Highest. Eleven o'Clock. HEAR me when I call, O GOD of my righteousness: Thou hast set me at liberty when I was in trouble; have mercy upon me and hearken unto my prayer. LORD, lift Thou up the light of Thy countenance upon us. I will lay me down in peace, and take my rest for it is Thou, LORD, only that makest me dwell in safety. Psalm iv. 1, 7, 9. Psalm cxix. 41, 55, 59, 62, 105. Twelve o'clock. LET Thy loving mercy come also unto me, O LORD: even Thy salvation, according unto Thy word. I have thought upon Thy Name, O LORD, in the night-season and have kept Thy law. : I called mine own ways to remembrance: and turned my feet unto Thy testimonies. At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto Thee because of Thy righteous judg ments. Thy word is a lantern unto my feet: and a light unto my paths. |
