January 3.

The apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.-LUKE

xvii. 5.

NCREASE our faith. O wash our souls

More clean from guilty stain,

Lest, though thou comest quickly, we
Who wait should wait in vain.

No watch too long for Him who comes,

Nor any waiting vain,

For crowns like those which God shall give
When he hath come again.

January 4.

Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees. Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not. -ISA. XXXV. 3, 4.

e

BORD, when the wearied hands give way,

And wearied knees are failing,

Then make thy mighty arm my stay,
Though faith and hope seem quailing ;
That so my heart drink in new strength,
And fear no more the journey's length;
O'er doubt and pain prevailing.

January 5.

That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations.-Ps. lxvii. 2.

OD of grace, O let Thy light

Bless our dim and blinded sight;

Like the day-spring in the night,

Bid Thy grace to shine.

To the nations led astray

Thine eternal love display;

Let Thy truth direct their way,

Till the world be Thine.

January 6,

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.-MATT. xi. 28.

JESUS, joy of saints on high,

Thou hope of sinners here;

Attracted by those loving words,
To Thee I lift my prayer.

Wash Thou my wounds in that dear blood
Which forth from Thee doth flow;

New grace, new hope inspire; a new
And better heart bestow.

I have set God always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.-Ps. xvi. 8.

FORTH in Thy name, O Lord, I go,

My daily labour to pursue ;

Thee, only Thee, resolved to know
In all I think, or speak, or do.
The task Thy wisdom hath assigned,
O let me cheerfully fulfil;

In all my works Thy presence find,
And prove Thy good and perfect will.

There is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.--ACTS iv. 12.

ESUS is the name we treasure ;

JESUS

Name beyond what words can tell;
Name of gladness, name of pleasure,
Ear and heart delighting well;
Name of sweetness, passing measure,
Saving us from sin and hell.
'Tis the name for adoration,
Name for songs of victory,

Name for holy meditation
In this vale of misery,
Name for joyful veneration
By the citizens on high.
