February 24.

Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.-JER. xvii. 7.

HE heart that trusts for ever sings,
And feels as light as it had wings;

A well of peace within it springs,
Come good or ill:

Whate'er to-day, to-morrow brings,
It is His will.

February 25.

Now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.-1 COR. xiii. 13.

REAT mover of all hearts, whose hand

Doth all the secret springs command
Of human thought and will.

Thou, since the world was made, dost bless
Thy saints with fruits of holiness,
Their order to fulfil.

Faith, hope, and love, here weave one chain;
But love alone shall then remain,

When this short day is gone:

O Love, O Truth, O endless Light,
When shall we see Thy Sabbath bright,
With all our labours done?

Let not

February 26.

your heart be troubled.-JOHN xiv. 1.

ALMER of my troubled heart,
Bid my unbelief depart;

Speak, and all my sorrows cease;
Speak, and all my soul is peace.

Comfort me, whene'er I mourn,
With the hope of Thy return;
And, till I Thy glory see,

Bid me still believe in Thee.

February 27.

Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.-Ps. li. 1.

February 28.

With open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord -2 COR. iii. 18.

R

EMOVE, O Lord, the veil away

That hides Thee from our sight;

Shed on our hearts a quickening ray,
And make our darkness light.

Give us the eye of faith, to see

The wonders of Thy love;
And let our souls, renewed by Thee,

Be fixed on things above.

February 29.

Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.

HEB. xii. 2.

HEN along life's thorny road,

W

Faints the soul beneath the load;

By its cares and sins oppressed,

Finds on earth no peace or rest, —

When the wily tempter's near,
Filling us with doubt and fear,
Jesus, to Thy feet we flee,
Jesus, we will look to Thee.

March 1.

The Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.-1 THESS. iv. 16.

HE resurrection be the theme

THE

Of many a glad triumphant hymn!

The resurrection-hope shall shine
Through tearful eyes with light divine;
The "dead in Christ" our God will keep,
Love's banner wave above their sleep;
And Christ will bring them in his train,
To meet the lov'd who here remain;
And in the resurrection we

Shall live and love eternally.

March 2.

I will instruct thee, and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.-Ps. xxxii. 8.

EAVE God to order all thy ways,

And hope in Him whate'er betide;

Thou'lt find Him in the evil days
Thy all-sufficient strength and guide.
Who trusts in God's unchanging love
Builds on the Rock that none can move.

March 3.

Lord, teach us to pray.-LUKE XI. 1.

WHE

THEN cold our hearts, and far from Thee
Our wandering spirits stray,

And thoughts and lips move heavily,

"Lord, teach us how to pray!"

Too vile to venture near Thy throne,

Too poor to turn away;

Our only voice, thy Spirit's groan—
"Lord, teach us how to pray!"

March 4.

The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.-PROV. xviii. 10.

EJOICE, ye saints, rejoice, and praise
The blessings of redeeming grace;

Jesus, your everlasting tower,

Can shield you from the tempest's power.

His love's a refuge ever high,

His watchfulness as mountains high,
His love 's unchangeably the same,

And as enduring as His name.
