This is a book for older audiences but a great GCSE SAMPLE book

This is very well written. The main character believable and likable. The story is down right scary unless ghosts without chain saws and claws aren't frightening. Great atmosphere. The setting is a character unto itself.
Highly recommended for those who like a little subtly in their scares.

I recently finished reading Woman in Black by Susan Hill. I wanted to see the play while I was in London as I heard it was excellent, but unfortunately, we were not able to fit it in. So, I thought I'd read the book from which the play was adapted. It was a quick read. Now back to the book review. I would definitely recommend reading this book. Although it did not scare me to the point of needing to barricade doors and toilets, it did spook just enough to make me think twice about things. I thought it was well written, and not an over the top ghost story, which I thought made it more real. Beware before reading it, lest the woman in black will haunt you as well!
