OW thefe are the kings of the land which their land on the other fide Jordan, toward the rifing of the fun; from the river Arnon unto mount Hermon, and all the plain on the eaft: 2 Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon, and ruled from Aroer, which is upon the bank of the river Arnon, and from the middle of the river, and from half Gilead, even unto the river Jabbok, which is the border of the children of Ammon: 3 And from the plain to the fea of Cinneroth on the eat, and unto the fea of the plain, even the fali-fea on the eaft, the way to Beth-jefhimoth; and from the fouth, under Afhdoth-pifgah : 4 And the coaft of Og king of Bathin, which was of the remnant of the giants, that dwelt at Ashtaroth and at Edrei, 16 The king of Makkedah, one: the king of Beth-el, one: 17 The king of Tappuah, one: the king of Hepher, one: 18 The king of Aphek, one: the king of Latharon, one : 19 The king of Madon, one: the king of Hazor, one: 20 The king of Shimron-meron, one: the king of Achthaph, one: 21 The king of Taanach, one: the king of Megiddo, one: 22 The king of Kedeth, one: the king of Jokneam of Carmel, one: 23 The king of Dor, in the coaft of Dor, one: the king or the nations of Gilgal, one: 24 The king of Tirzah, one; all the kings thirty and one. The nine tribes and an half are to have their inheritance by lot 6 Caleb by privilege obtaineth Hebron. of Ifrael made by fire are their inheritance, AND these are the countries which the chil as he said unto them. 15 And Mofes gave unto the tribe of the children of Reuben inheritance according to their familes : 16 And their coaft was from Aroer, that is on the bank of the river Arnon, and the city that is in the midft of the river, and all the plain by Meceba ; 17 Hethbon, and all her cities that are in the plain; Dibon, and Bamoth-baal, and Beth-baal-meon, 18 And Jahaza, and Kedemoth, and Mephaath, 19 And Kirjathaim, and Sibmah, and Zare'h-thahar in the mount of the valley, 20 And Beth-peor, and Afhdoth-pifgah, and Beth-jefhimoth, 21 And all the cities of the plain, and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, which reigned in Hefhbon, whom Mofes fmote with the princes of Midian, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, which were dukes of Sihon dwelling in the country. 22 Balaam alfo the fon of Beor, the foothfayer, did the children of Ifrael flay with the fword, among them that were flain by them. 23 And the border of the children of Reuben was Jordan, and the border thereof. This was the inheritance of the children of Reuben after their families, the cities, and the villages thereof. 24 And Mofes gave inheritance unto the tribe of Gad, even unto the children of Gad, according to their families: 25 And their coaft was Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the children of Ammon, unto Aroer that is before Rabbah; 26 And from Hefhbon unto Ramath-mizpeh, and Betonim; and from Mahanaim unto the border of Debir; 27 And in the valley, Beth-aram, and Bethnimrah, and Succoth, and Zaphon, the reft of the kingdom of Sihon king of Hethbon, Jordan and his bor er, even unto the edge of the fea of Cinnereth, on the other fide Jor. dan eastward. 28 This is the inheritance of the children of Gad, after their families, the cities, and their villages. 20 And Mofes gave inheritance unto the half-tribe of Manaffen: and this was the pofJeon of the half-tribe of the children of Manaffeh by their families. 30 And their coaft was from Mahanaim, all Bathan, all the kingdom of Og king of Bathan, and all the towns of fair, which are in Bathan, threefcore cities; 31 And half Gilead, and Afhtaroth, and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bafhan, were pertaining unto the children of Machir the fon of Manaffeh, even to the one half of the children of Machir by their families. 32 These are the countries which Mofes did diftribute for inheritance in the plains of Moab, on the other fide Jordan by Jericho eastward. 33 But unto the tribe of Levi Mofes gave not any inheritance: the LORD God of Ifrael was their inheritance, as he faid unto them.. dren of Ifrael inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, ano Jofhua the fon of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Ifrael, diftributed for inheritance unto them. 2 By lot was their inheritance, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Mofes, for the nine tribes, and for the half-tribe. 3 For Mofes had given the inheritance of two tribes and an half-tribe on the other fide Jordan: but unto the Levites he gave none inheritance among them. 4 For the children of Jofeph were two tribe, Manaffeh and Ephraim: therefore they gave no part unto the Levites in the land, fave cities to dwell in, with their fuburbs for their cattle, and for their fubftance. 5 As the LORD commanded Mofes, fo the children of Ifrael did, and they divided the land. 6 Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the fon of Je phunneh the Kenezite faid unto him, Thou knoweft the thing that the LORD faid unto Mofes the man of God, concerning me and thee in Kadeth-barnea. 7 Forty years old was I when Mofes the fervant of the LORD fent me from Kadethbarnea to efpy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart. 8 Nevertheless, my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt; but I wholly followed the LORD my God. 9 And Mofes fware on that day, faying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden thall be thine inheritance, and thy chil dren's for ever; becaufe thou haft wholly followed the LORD my God. 10 And now, behold, the LORD hath kept me alive, as he faid, Thefe forty and five years, even fince the LORD fpake this word unto Mofes, while the children of Israel wan dered in the wilderness; and now, lo, I am this day fourfcore and five years old. 11 As yet I am as throng this day as I was in the tay that Mofes fent me: as my ftrength was then, even fo is my ftrength now, for war, both to go out and to come in. 12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD fpake in that day; (for thou heardeft in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fence i;) if fo be the LORD will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD faid. 13 And Joshua bleffed him, and gave unto Caleb the fon of Jephunneh Hebron for an in. heritance 14 Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the fon of Tephunneh the Kenezite unto this day; becaufe that he wholly fol lowed the LORD God of Ifrael. 15 And the name of Hebron before was Kirjath-arba, which Arba was a great man among the Anakims. T HIS then was the lot of the tribe of the children of Judah by their tamilies; even to the border of Fdom; the wilderness of Zin fouthward was the uttermoft part of the fouth coast. 2 And their fouth border was from the fhore of the falt fea, from the bay that look. eth fouthward : 3 And it went out to the fouth fide to Maaleh-acrabbim, and paffed along to Zin, and afcended up on the fouth fide unto Kadeth. barnea, and paffed along to Hezron, and went up to Adar, and fetched a compass to Karkaa: 4 From thence it paffed toward Azmon, and went out unto the river of Egypt; and the goings out of that coaft were at the fea. This fhall be your fouth coaft. 5 And the east border was the falt-fea, even unto the end of Jordan: and their border in the north quarter was from the bay of the fea, at the uttermoft part of Jordan. 6 Ani the border went up to Beth-hoglah, and paffed along by the north of Beth-arabah; and the border went up to the ftone of Bohan the fon of Reuben. 7 And the border went up toward Debir from the valley of Achor, and fo northward, locking toward Gilgal, that is before the going up to Adummim, which is on the fouth fide of the river: and the border paffed toward the waters of En-fhemesh, and the goings out thereof were at En-rogel, 8 And the border went up by the valley of the fon of Hinnom, unto the fouth fide of the Jebufi e; the fame is Jerufalem; and the bor. der went up to the top of the mountain that lieth before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the end of the valley of the giants northward. 9 And the border was drawn from the top of the hill unto the fountain of the water of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of mount Ephron; and the border was drawn to Baalah, which is Kirjath-jearim. TO And the border compaffed from Baalah westward unto mount Seir, and paffed along unto the fide of mount Jearim, (which is Chefalon,) on the north fide, and went down to Beth-fhemesh, and paired on to Timnah: 11 And the border went out unto the fide. of Ekion northward: and the border was drawn to Shicron, and paffed along to mount Baalah, and went out unto Jabneel: and the goings out of the border were at the fea. 12 And the west border was to the great fea, and the coaft thereof. This is the coaft of the children of Judah round about according to their families." 13 And unto Caleb the fon of Jephunneh he gave a part among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the LORD to Joshua, even the eity of Arba. the father of Anak, which city is Hebron. 14 And Caleb drove thence the three fons of Anak, Shethai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak. 15 And he went up thence to the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir be. fore was Kirjath-sepher. 16¶ And Caleb laid, He that fmiteth Kit jath-fepher, and takech is, to him will I give Achfah my daughter to wife, Caleb's portion and conqueft. 17 And Othniel the fon of Kenaz, the bro thei of Caleb, took it: and he gave him Achfah his daughter to wife. 18 And it came to pafs, as the came unto him, that the moved him to ask of her father a field: and the lighted of her afs; and Caleb faid unto her, What wouldeft thou! 19 Who answered, Give me a bleding; for thou haft given me a fouth land, give me al fo fprings of water. S¶ And the border of the children of Ephraim, according to their families, was thus; even the border of their inheritance on the caft fide was Ataroth-addar, unto Bethhoron the upper; 6 And the border went out toward the fea, to Michmethah on the north fide, and the bor. der went about eastward unto Taanath-thiloh, and passed by it on the eaft to Janohah: 7 And it went down from Janohah to Ataroth, and to Naarath, and came to Jericho, and went out at Jordan. 8 The border went out from Tappuah westward unto the river Kanah; and the goings out thereof were at the fea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim by their families. THERE was alfe a lot for the tribe of Manaifch, (for he was the firit-bern of Jofeph,) to wit, for Machir, the firit-born of Manaffeh, the father of Gilead: because he was a man of war, therefore he had Gilead and Bathan. 2 There was also a lot for the rest of the children of Manaffeh by their families: for the children of Abiezer, and for the chil. dren of Helek, and for the children of Afriel, and for the children of Shechem, and The lot of Manafeb. tor the children of Hepher, and for the chil. dren of Shemida: these were the male chil dren of Manatleh, the fon of Jofeph, by their families. 3 But Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the fon of Gilead, the fon of Machir, the fon of Mauatieh, had no fons, but daughters; and thefe are the names of his daughters, Mah. lah, and Noah, Hogiah, Milcan, and Tirzah. 4 And they came near before Eleazar the prieft, and before Joshua the fon of Nun, and before the princes, faying, The LORD commanded Moles to give us an inheritance among our brethren. Therefore according to the commandment of the LORD, he gave them an inheritance among the brethren of their father. 5 And there fell ten portions to Manaffeh, beside the land of Gilead and Bathan, which were on the other fide Jordan; 6 Because the daughters of Manaffeh had an inheritance among his fons: and the rest of Manaffeh's fons had the land of Gilead. 7 And the coaft of Manafen was from Ather to Michmethah, that fieth before Shechem, a , and the border went along on the right hand unto the inhabitants of En-tappuan. 8 Now Manatleh had the land of Tappuah : but Tappuah, on the border of Manaich, be longed to the children of Ephraim: 9 And the coaft defcended unto the river Kanah, fouthward of the river: thefe cities of Ephraim are among the clues of Manatleh; the coast of Manatleh alfo was on the north fide of the river, and the outgoings of it were at the fea: 10 Southward it was Ephraim's, and northward it was Manaffeh's, and the fea is his border, and they met together in Ather on the north, and in fachar on the caft. 11 And Manaffeh had in Ifachar, and in Afher, Beth-thean and her towns, and Ibleam and her towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, and the inhabitants of Fndor and her towns, and the inhabitants of Tanach and her towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns, even three countries. 12 Yet the children of Manaffeh could pot drive out the inhabitants of those cities, but the Canaanites would dwell in tha land. 13. Yet it came to pafs when the children of Ifrael were waxen trong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute; but did not utterly drive them out. 14 And the children of Jofeph fake unto Joshua, faying, Wny haft thou given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, feeing I am a grea. people, forafmuch as the LORD hach bleifed me hitherto ? 15 And Joshua anfwered them, If thou be a great people, then get thee up to the woodcountry, and cut down for thyself there, in the land of the Perizzites, and of the giants, if mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee.. 16 And the children of Jofeph faid, The hill is not enough for us and all the Ca. naanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Beth-fhean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel. 17 And Joshua fpake unto the house of Jofeph, even to Ephraim, and to Manaffeh, faying, Thou art a great people, and hat great power; thou shalt not have one lot only The land described, and divided by lot. city of the children of Judah. AND the whole congregation of the chil. dren of Ifrael atfembled together at Shiloh, and fet up the tabernacle of the congre gation there: and the land was fubdued before them. 2 And there remained among the children of Ifrael feven tribes, which had not yet received their inheritance. 3 And Jofhua faid unto the children of Ifrael, How long are ye flack to go to poffefs the land which the LORD God of your fachers hath given you? 4 Give out from among you three men for each tribe; and I will fend them, and they thall rife and go through the land, and defcribe it, according to the inheritance of them and they thall come again to me. 5 And they shall divide it into feven parts: Judah thall abide in their coaft on the fouth, and the house of Jofeph thall abide in their coafts on the north. 6 Ye shall therefore defcribe the land into feven parts, and bring the defeription hither to me, that I may cait lots for you here before the LORD our God. 7 But the Levites have no part among you, for the priesthood of the LORD is their inheritance: and Gad, and Reuben, and half the tribe of Manaffeh, have received their inheritance beyond Jordan on the eaft, which Mofes the fervant of the LORD gave them. 8 And the men arofe, and went away: and Joshua charged them that went to deferibe the land, faying, Go, and walk through the land, and defcribe it, and come again to me, that I may here catt lots for you before the LORD in Shiloh. 9 And the men went, and paffed through the land, and described it by cities into feven parts in a book, and came again to Joshua, to the hoft at Shiloh. 10 And Joshua caft lots for them in ShiJoh before the LORD and there Joshua divided the land unto the children of Ifrael, according to their divifions. 11And the lot of the tribe of the children of Benjamin came up according to their families and the coaft of their lot came forth between the children of Judah and the children of Jofeph. 12 And their border on the north fide was from Jordan: and the border went up to the fide of Jericho on the north fide, and went up through the mountains weltward; and thelgoings out thereof were at the wilderness of Beth-aven. 13 And the border went over from thence toward Luz, to the fide of Luz, (which is Beth-el,) fouthward, and the border defcended to Ataroth-adar, near the hill that lieth on the fouth-fide of the nether Beth-horon. 14 And the border was drawn thence, and compaired the corner of the fea fouthward, from the hill that lieth before Beth-horon fouthward; and the goings out thereof were at Kirjath-baal, (which is Kirjath-jearitn,) a 15 And the fouth quarter was from the end of Kirjath-jearim, and the border went out on the west, and went out to the well of wa ters of Nephtoah; 16 And the border came down to the end of the mountain that lieth before the valley of the fon of Hinnom, and which is in the valley of the giants on the north, and defcended to the valley of Hinnom, to the fide of Jebufi on the fouth, and defcended to Enrogel, 17 And was drawn from the north, and went forth to En-themesh, and went forth to ward Geliloth, which is over against the going up of Adummim, and defcended to the ftone of Bohan the fon of Reuben, 18 And paffed along toward the fide over against Arabah northward, and went down unto Arabah; 19 And the border passed along to the fide of Beth-hoglah, northward: and the out-goings of the border were at the north bay of the falt fea, at the fouth end of Jordan. This was the fouth coaft. 20 And Jordan was the border of it on the eaft fide.
