The Woman, at the usual time after her Delivery, shall come into the Church, and there shall kneel down in some convenient place, and then the Minister shall say unto her,

ORASMUCH as it hath pleased Almighty God of His goodness to give you safe deliverance, and hath preserved you in the great danger of Childbirth; you shall therefore give hearty thanks unto God, and say, Then shall the Minister say Psalm cxxvii, or cxxviii.

Lord, have mercy upon us. Christ, have mercy upon us. heaven, Hallowed be Thy UR Father, Who art in Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And

EXCEPT the Lord build the lead us not into temptation; But

Thy children like the olivebranches: round about thy table. Lo, thus shall the man bethee; the Lord make His blessed that feareth the Lord.

The Lord from out Sion shall

Jerusalem in prosperity all thy life long.

Yea, thou shalt see thy chil dren's children: and peace upon Israel.

Then shall the Minister say,
Let us pray.

NOTE.-If the Woman cometh to give thanks at Morning or Evening Prayer, it shall suffice that the above collect alone be read immediately before the general thanksgiving.

The Service on these occasions may begin with the Litany, and the Litany being ended, the Minister and people shall say this Psalm.

THE EXHORTATION. "N order, Brethren, to your

right

necessity of humiliation and prayer, I shall set before you good and evil, life and death, blessing and cursing, in the words of God Himself, Who cannot lie, and in

in the New Testament, that in these you may see the blessedness

of God's wrath, that are set down

Life.

Minister. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

People. Lord have mercy upon us, and endue us with all these graces, and make us partakers of the blessedness promised to them, we humbly beseech Thee.

Minister. You have already heard the blessings promised to the obedient, now hear the judgments of God denounced against sinners.

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Cor. vi. 9, 10.

People. O Lord, preserve us from these sins, and from Thy wrath, which they justly deserve.

Minister. The works of the flesh are manifest, which are

these, adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like; of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things, shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Gal. v., 19-22.

People. O Lord, preserve us from these sins, and from Thy wrath, which they justly deserve.

Minister. This you know that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words, for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Ephes. v. 5-7.

People. From these and all other sins, and from Thy wrath, which they justly deserve, save and deliver us we humbly beseech Thee, O Lord.

Then shall the people say this that followeth, after the Minister:

and spare all those who confess their sins unto Thee; that they, whose consciences by sin are accused, by Thy merciful pardon may be absolved; through Christ our Lord. Amen.

upon mercy. Spare Thy people, good Lord, spare them, and let not Thine heritage be brought to confusion. Hear us, O Lord, for Thy mercy is great, and after the multitude of Thy mercies look upon us; through the merits and mediation of Thy blessed Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Be favourable, O Lord, Be favourable to Thy people, who turn to Thee in weeping, fasting, and praying. For Thou art a merciful God, Full of compassion, Long-suffering, and of great pity. Thou sparest when we deserve punishMOST mighty God, and merMOST mighty God, and mer-ment, and in Thy wrath thinkest ciful Father, Who hast compassion upon all men, and hatest nothing that Thou hast made; Who wouldest not the death of a sinner, but that he should rather turn from his sin, and be saved; Mercifully forgive us our trespasses; receive and comfort us, who are grieved and wearied with the burden of our sins. Thy property is always to have mercy; to Thee only it appertaineth to forgive sins. Spare us therefore, good Lord, spare Thy people, whom Thou hast redeemed; enter not into judgment with Thy servants, who are vile earth, and miserable sinners; but so turn Thine anger from us, who humbly acknowledge our vileness, and truly repent us of our faults, and so help us in this world by Thy grace, that we may ever live with Thee in

Then the Minister alone shall say:

NOTE. The Minister may, at his discretion, introduce an extemporaneous prayer before the final petition for Mercy, with special reference to the particular cause for the day of humiliation.

THANKSGIVING.

To be used yearly upon the Fifth Day of November, for the happy deliverance of King James I. and the Estates of England from the cruel intended massacre by Gunpowder: and also for the happy arrival of His Majesty King William III. on this day, for the deliverance of our Church and Nation.

GIVE thanks unto the Lord, for He is gracious: and His mercy endureth for ever. Psalm cvii. 1.

People. Let them give thanks, whom the Lord hath redeemed: and delivered from the hand of the enemy. Verse 2.

Minister. Many a time have they fought against me from my youth up may Israel now say. Psalm cxxix. 1.

People. Yea, many a time have they vexed me from my youth up but they have not prevailed against me. Verse 2.

Minister. They have privily laid their net to destroy me without a cause yea, even without a cause have they made a pit for my soul. Psalm xxxv. 7.

People. They have laid a net for my feet, and pressed down my soul they have digged a pit before me, and are fallen into the midst of it themselves. Psalm lvii. 7.
