said unto them, Have ye here any meat? And they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish, and of a honey-comb. And He took it, and did eat before them. And He said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the law of Moses, and in the Prophets, and in the Psalms concerning Me. Then opened He their understanding, that they might understand the Scriptures, and said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day; and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His Name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things. THE FIRST SUNDAY AFTER THE RESURRECTION.

THE COLLECT.

ALMIGHTY Father, Who hast given

Thine only Son to die on account of our sins, and to rise again on account of our justification; Grant us so to put away the leaven of malice and wickedness, that we may alway serve Thee in pureness of living and truth; through the merits of the same Thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE EPISTLE. 1 John v. 4.

Wometh the world; and this is the

THATSOEVER is born of God over

victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the

world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? This is He that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ: not by water only, but by water and blood; and it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three who bear witness, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and the three agree in one. If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God, which He hath testified of His Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself; he that believeth not God hath made Him a liar, because he believeth not the record that God gave of His Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life; and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son hath not life.

THE GOSPEL. John xx. 24.

B UT Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into His side, I will not believe. And after eight days again His disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Then saith He to

Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold My hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into My side: and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto Him, My Lord and my God. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen Me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

THE SECOND SUNDAY AFTER THE RESURRECTION.

THE COLLECT.

LMIGHTY God, Who hast given Thine only Son to be unto us both a Sacrifice for sin and the Vanquisher of death by His resurrection; Grant unto us, that dying unto sin and living unto righteousness, an entrance may be ministered to us abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Christ, for His name and merit's sake. Amen.

THE EPISTLE. 1 Pet. ii. 19.

THIS is thank-worthy if a man for con

suffering wrongfully. For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently; this is acceptable with God. For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow His steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth: Who, when He was reviled,

reviled not again; when He suffered, He threatened not; but committed Himself to Him that judgeth righteously: Who His Own Self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by Whose stripes ye were healed. For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

THE GOSPEL. John x. 11.

ESUS said, I am the Good Shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. But he that is a hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth; and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. The hireling fleeth, because he is a hireling, and careth not for the sheep. I am the Good Shepherd, and know My sheep, and am known of Mine. As the Father knoweth Me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down My life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they shall hear My voice; and there shall be one flock, and one Shepherd.

THE THIRD SUNDAY AFTER THE RESURRECTION.

THE COLLECT.

ALMIGHTY God, Who shewest to them

that be in error the light of Thy truth, to the intent that they may return into the way of righteousness; Grant unto

all them that are admitted into the fellowship of Christ's Religion, that they may eschew those things that are contrary to their profession, and follow all such things as are agreeable to the same; through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

THE EPISTLE. 1 Pet. ii. 11.

DEARLY beloved, I beseech you as

strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; having your conversation honest among the Gentiles; that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him, for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. For so is the will of God, that with well-doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: as free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness; but as the servants of God. Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

THE GOSPEL. John xvi. 16.

JESUS said to His disciples, A little

while and ye shall not see Me; and again, a little while and ye shall see Me; because I go to the Father. Then said some of His disciples among themselves, What is this that He saith unto us, A little while
