His lordship is uncle of the earl of Clancarty, (see that title,) and was consecrated bishop of Waterford, 1802; translated to Elphin 1810, and to the metropolitan see of Tuam, 1819.

Arms of the See-Azure, three persons erect, under as many canopies or stalls of gothic work or, their faces, hands, and legs, proper; the first represents an archbishop habited in his pontificals; the second, the Virgin Mary, a circle of glory over her head, holding in her left arm the infant Jesus, head radiant; the third, an angel, having his right arm elevated, and under the left arm a lamb, all of the 2d.

His lordship is cousin of the earl of Caledon, (see that title,) was consecrated bishop of Clonfert, 1801, translated to Down and Connor, 1804, and to Meath, 1823.

Arms of the See-Azure, three mitres, labelled or, over all an episcopal staff in bend sinister surmounted by an inescutcheon argent.

His lordship is brother of the earl of Balcarres, (see that title,) and was consecrated bishop of Killaloe, 1803, and translated to Kildare, 1804.

Arms of the See-Argent a saltire gules, on a chief azure, a book open, garnished and clasped all proper.

His lordship is brother to the marquess of Ely, are that title,) was consecrated bishop of Killaloe, 14; translated to Leighlin and Ferns, 180; and to Clogher, 1822.

Arms of the See--Azure, a bishop habited in his pontificals, sitting in his chair of state, leaning on the sinister side, holding in his left hand a crosier; his night hand extended towards the dexter chief, all or, resting his feet on a cushion gules, tasselled of the 2d.

ROBERT FOWLER, D.D., LORD BISHOP of LEIGHLIN and FERNS, with which Bishopricks the See of Ossory is now incorporated, m.

Consecrated bishop of Ossory, 1813, and succeeded to the bishoprick of Leighlin and Ferns on the decease of dr. Elrington, 1835, with which see, that of Ossory is now incorporated.

Arms of the See-Azure, two keys endorsed in saltire or, surmounted by a mitre labelled of the last.

His lordship is brother to baron Ponsonby, of Imokilly (see that title).

Consecrated 1828, bishop of Killaloe, translated to Derry, 1831, and succeeded to the see of Raphoe, on the decease of dr. Bisset, 1834.

Arms of the See-Gules, a crosier in bend sinister argent, surmounted by a sword of the 2d in bend, pomel and hilt or; on a chief azure, a harp of the 3d, stringed of the 2d.
