CHARLES ALLANSON-WINN, LORD HEADLEY, Baron Allanson and Winn, of Aghadoe, co. Kerry, and a Baronet of England; born 25 June 1784; succeeded his father, George, the late lord, 9 April 1798; succeeded likewise to the baronetcy of Nostell, on the death of his kinsman, sir Edmund-Mark Winn, 18 June 1833; married, 19 Nov. 1825, miss Matthews, but has no issue.

His lordship's ancestor, sir GEORGE WINN, of Nostell Abbey, co. York, was created a baronet 3 Dec. 1660, and d. 1667, leaving issue sir Edmund, ancestor of sir Edmund-Mark Winn, of Nostell, 7th bart., upon whose decease unm., 18 June 1833, that baronetcy devolved on the present lord Headley; and a second son,

GEORGE WINN, esq., m. Sarah, da. of Charles Pelham, of Brocklesby, co. Lincoln, esq., (ancestor of the barons Yarborough,) and had issue,

Essex, esq., and 1775, to the estates of his cousin, Charles Allanson, esq., who d. without issue, on which occasion he took the surname of

Allanson, in addition to and before Winn. His lordship m., 1st, 1765, Anne, 4th da. of sir Rowland Winn, of Nostell Abbey, bart., and had issue by her (who d. 9 Oct. 1774) an only da.,

Derby, gent.,) was knighted at Whitehall, 16 Jan. 1667, and d. 1620, leaving issue by Sarah, da. of John Chambers, (who survived him and d. 1727.) two sons, JOHN and Thomas, and two das., Sarah, m. Henry Hunt, of Blockley, co. Worcester, and Hannah.

MORTON EDEN, 1st lord, was youngest brother of William Eden, 1st lord Auckland, and son of sir Robert Eden, bart.; was appointed, in 1776, minister plenipotentiary to the elector of Bavaria, and minister to the diet at Ratisbon; in 1779, envoy extraordinary to the court of Copenhagen; in 1783, envoy extraordinary to the court of Dresden; in 1791, minister plenipotentiary to the duke of Saxe-Gotha; in the same year, envoy extraordinary and minister plenipotentiary to the court of Berlin; at the same time nominated a K.B., (with the insignia of which order he was, at the king's desire, publicly invested by his Prussian majesty, on the 1st Jan. in the following year;) in 1793, ambassador and minister plenipotentiary to the court of Vienna; in 1794, ambassador extraordinary and minister plenipotentiary to the court of Madrid, and one of his majesty's most honourable privy council; and the same year re-appointed envoy extraordinary and minister plenipotentiary to the court of Vienna, where he remained till 1799, when he was, by patent dated 9th Nov., created a peer of Ireland, by the title of baron Henley, of Chardstock. His lordship was b. 8 July 1752, m., 7 Aug. 1783, Elizabeth, da. of Robert, 1st, and sister and co-h. of Robert, 2d earl of Northington, by whom (who d. 20 Aug. 1821) he had issue,
