And humbly walks with God below; 2 Whose heart is pure, whose hands are 4 Yet, when his holiest works are done, 1 12 WH HEN God is nigh, my faith is strong; 2 Though in the dust I lay my head, 3 My flesh shall Thy first call obey, 4 There streams of endless pleasure flow; 3 O glorious hour! O blest abode 4 My flesh shall slumber in the ground 14 1 JUS UST are Thy ways, and true Thy word, Great rock of my secure abode: Who is a God beside the Lord? Or where's a refuge like our God? 2 'Tis He that girds me with His might, Gives me His holy sword to wield; And while with sin and hell I fight, Spreads His salvation for my shield. 3 He lives, and blessed be my rock; The God of my salvation lives: The dark designs of hell are broke; Sweet is the peace my Father gives. 4 Before the scoffers of the age I will exalt my Father's name, Nor tremble at their mighty rage, But meet reproach, and bear the shame. 5 To David and his royal seed Thy grace for ever shall extend; Thy love to saints in Christ, their Head, Knows not a limit, or an end. 15 1 WHO 2 LYTE. HOM should we love like Thee, The tower to which we fice, O for a thousand tongues to show The storm upon us fell, The depths of death and hell Seemed on our souls to close; To God we cried in strong despair, And God was nigh to help our prayer. 4 5 And on the tempest's wings Rode glorious from on high. The earth before her Maker shook, The mountains quaked at His rebuke. Above the storm He stood, And awed it to repose; He drew us from the flood, And scattered all our foes. He sets us in a spacious place, And there upholds us by His grace. Whom should we love like Thee, O for a thousand tongues to show The debt that we to mercy owe! (PSALM 18.) C.M. Still keep their course the same; While night to day, and day to night, Divinely teach His name. In every different land Their general voice is known; They show the wonders of His hand, And orders of His throne. 4 Ye British lands, rejoice; 5 Here He reveals His word; We are not left to nature's voice To bid us know the Lord. His statutes and commands Are set before our eyes; He puts His Gospel in our hands 6 His laws are just and pure; 7 2 Soon as the evening shades prevail, THE heavens declare His glory, Their Maker's skill the skies: Each day repeats the story, Their silent proclamation Throughout the earth is heard; The record of creation, The page of nature's word. 2 There, from his bright pavilion, Than lurks within the mine; 5 But past transgressions pain me; 2 The name of Jacob's God defends Better than shields or brazen walls; He from His sanctuary sends Succour and strength when Zion calls. 3 Well He remembers all our sighs, His love exceeds our best deserts; His love accepts the sacrifice Of humble groans and broken hearts. 4 In His salvation is our hope, And, in the name of Israel's God, Our troops shall lift their banners up, Our navies spread their flags abroad. 5 Some trust in horses trained for war, And some of chariots make their boasts; Our surest expectations are From Thee, the Lord of heavenly hosts. 6 Now save us, Lord, from slavish fear, Now let our hopes be firm and strong, Till Thy salvation shall appear, And joy and triumph raise the song. When He complained in tears and blood, 2 The Jews behold Him thus forlorn, 3 They wound His head, His hands, His feet, 1 MY Shepherd will supply my need, Jehovah is His name; In pastures fresh He makes me feed 2 He brings my wandering spirit back And leads me for His mercy's sake 3 When I walk through the shades of death, Thy presence is my stay ; A word of Thy supporting breath 4 Thy hand, in sight of all my foes, 5 The sure provisions of my God O may Thy house be mine abode, |
