Ward, as Sworn Clerks of the said Court; David Drew as Deputy Clerk of Enrolments, and as one of the Agents to the Sworn Clerks of the said Court; John Veal, Alexander Berry, James Bowyer, John Miller, John Mumbray, and Henry Wass Wright, as six others of the said Agents to the Sworn Clerks of the said Court; and George Papps, as one of the Waiting Clerks, have respectively presented claims to his Lordship for compensation for the loss of the fees and emoluments of their respective offices as aforesaid; whereby it appears that the fees and emoluments of the said several officers, in respect of their said offices, upon an average of three years, were as follows; that is to say, the said George Gatty 7,2321. 19s. 1d., the said Henry Ramsay Baines 7,2041. 38. 8d., the said Richard Mills 6,580l. 12s. 9d., the said John Wainewright 6,000l. 6s. 9 d., the said John Sidney Smith 4,1071. 3s. 1d., the said Thomas George Smith 2,0531. 18s. 7d., the said Samuel Silver 1,5301. 18s. 3d., the said Frederick Bedwell 1,1401. 5s. 3d., the said William Erasmus Madox Sherwood 4421. 13s. 10d., the said Seth Charles Ward 574l. 6s. 8d.; the said David Drew, as such Deputy Clerk of the Enrolments as aforesaid, 9997. 10s. 3d, and 1,7781. 4s. 10d, as such Agent as aforesaid, making together the sum of 2,7771. 15s. 1d.; the said John Veal 1,3317. 19s. 8d., the said John Alexander Berry 1,2461. 12s. 8d. the said James Bowyer 1,3847. 15s., the said John Miller 3641. 9s. 1d., the said John Mumbray 243/. 12s. Id., the said Henry Wass Wright 185l. 16s. 11d., and the said George Papps 4591. 8s. 9d. And whereas by an order made in this matter, bearing date the 3d day of December 1842, it was amongst other things ordered, that out of any cash which might at any time be remaining in the Bank to the credit of the said account, entitled "The Suitors' Fee Fund Account," (but subject as therein and hereinafter mentioned), there should be paid by the Governor and Company of the Bank of England, to the several persons therein and hereinafter named the several sums or salaries therein mentioned; that is to say, to amongst others, David Drew, the first Clerk of Enrolments, 1,200.; to Frederick Bedwell, John Alexander Berry, Thomas Veal and Seth Charles Ward, as the First Clerks of Records

and Writs respectively, 1,2001.; to Henry Ramsay Baines, George Gatty, Richard Mille, and John Wainewright, as four of the First Taxing Masters, respectively 20001. each; to Henry Wass Wright, as Clerk to the said Frederick Bedwell, 3501.; John Miller, as Clerk to the said John Alexander Berry, 3501.; to George Papps, as Clerk to the said John Veal, 350.; to John Mumbray, as Clerk to the said Seth Charles Ward, 3501.; to William Erasmus Madox Sherwood, as Clerk to the said George Gatty, 2501.; and that such several yearly sums or salaries should be payable and paid by equal quarterly payments, on the 3d day of February, the 3d day of May, the 3d day of August, and the 3d day of November in every year; the first of such quarterly payments to be made on the 3d day of February then next. Now such claims having been established to the satisfaction of his Lordship, his Lordship doth order and determine that the said several persons next hereinafter mentioned are entitled to receive and be paid the following yearly sums; that is to say, the said George Gatty, 5,4247. 14s. 4d., the said Henry Ramsay Baines 5,403l. 2s. 9d., the said Richard Mills 4,9351. 9s. 7d., the said John Wainewright 4,500l. 5s. 1d., the said John Sidney Smith 3,0801. 7s.4d., the said Thomas George Smith 1,540l. 3s. 9d., the said Samuel Silver 1,1481. 3s. 9d., the said Frederick Bedwell 8557. 4s., the said William Erasmus Madox Sherwood 3321. Os. 5d., the said Seth Charles Ward 4301. 15s., and the said George Papps 3441. 11s. 7d., for compensation for the loss of their respective offices as aforesaid, being three-fourths of the amount of the fees and emoluments of their respective offices, upon an average of three years; the said David Drew 7491. 12s. 8d., for compensation for the loss of the fees and emoluments of his said office of Deputy Clerk of the Enrolments, being three-fourths of the amount of the fees and emoluments of his said office upon an average of three years, and 1,1851. 9s. 11d. for compensation for the loss of the fees and emoluments as one of the Agents to the Sworn Clerks, being two-thirds of the amount of the fees and emoluments upon an average of three years, making together the yearly sum of 1,9301. 2s. 7d.; the said John Veal 8871. 19s. 10d., the said John Alexander Berry 8311. 1s. 10d., the said James Bowyer 9231. 3s. 4d., the said John Miller

2421. 19s. 5d., the said John Mumbray 1627. 8s. 1d., and the said Henry Wass Wright 1237. 17s 11d., for compensation for the loss of their respective offices as aforesaid, being two-thirds of the amount of the fees and emoluments of their respective offices upon an average of three years; but inasmuch as the said George Gatty, Henry Ramsay Baines, Richard Mills, John Wainewright, Frederick Bedwell, William Erasmus Madox Sherwood, Seth Charles Ward, George Papps, David Drew, John Veal, John Alexander Berry, John Miller, John Mumbray, and Henry Wass Wright, have been appointed to their said offices under the said recited Act, his Lordship doth hereby order and determine as follows: that is to say, that so long as the said George Gatty shall continue to hold the said office of a Taxing Master, the sum of 1917. 15s. 3d., being a portion of the said sum of 5,4247. 14s. 4d., the annual compensation so payable to him as aforesaid, shall cease to be payable to him, and that the sun of 5,2327. 19s. 1d, only shall be payable to him for compensation as aforesaid, so long as he shall continue to hold his said office. That so long as the said Henry Ramsay Baines shall continue to hold the said office of Taxing Master, the sum of 1987. 19s. 1d., being a portion of the said sum of 5,4031. 2s. 9d., the annual compensation, so payable to him as aforesaid, shall cease to be payable to him; and the sum of 5,2041. 3s. 8d. only shall be payable to him for compensation as aforesaid, so long as he shall continue to hold his said office. That so long as the said Richard Mills shall continue to hold the said office of a Taxing Master, the sum of 354l. 16s. 10d., being a portion of the sum of 4,9351. 9s. 7d., the annual compensation so payable to him as aforesaid, shall cease to be payable to him, and that the sum of 4,5807. 12s. 9d. only shall be payable to him for compensation as aforesaid, so long as he shall continue to hold his said office. That so long as the said John Wainewright shall continue to hold the said office of a Taxing Master, the sum of 4997. 18s. 4d., being a portion of the sum of 4,500l. 5s. 1d., the annual compensation so payable to him as aforesaid, shall cease to be payable to him; and that the sum of 4,000l. 6s. 9d. only shall be payable to him for compensation as aforesaid, so long as he shall continue to hold his said office. That so long as the said David Drew shall

continue to hold the office of Clerk of the Enrolments, the sum of 3571. 78. 6d., being a portion of the said sum of 1,9351. 28. 7d., the annual compensation so payable to him as aforesaid, shall cease to be payable to him; and that the sum of 1,5771. 15s. 1d. only shall be payable to him for compensation as aforesaid, so long as he shall continue to hold his said office. That so long as the said John Veal shall continue to hold the said office of one of the Clerks of Records and Writs, the sum of 7561. Os. 2d., being a portion of the said sum of 8871. 19s. 10d., the annual compensation so payable to him as aforesaid, shall cease to be payable to him; and that the sum of 1311. 19s. 8d. only shall be payable to him for such compensation as aforesaid, so long as he shall continue to hold his said office. That so long as the said John Alexander Berry shall continue to hold the said office as one of the Clerks of Records and Writs, the sum of 7841. 9s. 2d., being a portion of the said sum of 831. 1s. 10d., the annual compensation so payable to him as aforesaid, shall cease to be payable to him; and that the sum of 461. 128. 8d. only shall be payable to him for compensation as aforesaid, so long as he shall continue to hold his said office. That so long as the said George Papps shall continue to hold the said office of Clerk to the said John Veal, the sum of 235l. 2s. 10d., being a portion of the said sum of 3441. 11s. 7d., the annual compensation so payable to him as aforesaid, shall cease to be payabe to him; and that the sum of 109l. 8s. 9d. only shall be payable to him for compensation as aforesaid, so long as he shall continue to hold the said office. That so long as the said William Erasmus Madox Sherwood shall continue to hold the said office of Clerk to the said George Gatty, the sum of 1391. 6s. 7d., being a portion of the said sum of 3321. Os. 5d., the annual compensation so payable to him as aforesaid, shall cease to be payable to him; and that the sum of 1921. 138. 10d. only shall be payable to him for compensation as aforesaid, so long as he shall continue to hold his said office. That so long as the said John Miller shall continue to hold the said office of Clerk to the said John Alexander Berry, the sum of 2281. 10s. 4d., being a portion of the said sum of 242l. 19s. 5d., the annual compensation so payable to him as aforesaid, shall cease to be payable to him;

and that the sum of 147. 9s. 1d. only shall be payable to him for compensation as aforesaid, so long as he shall continue to hold his said office and that so long as the said Seth Charles Ward, Frederick Bedwell, John Mumbray, and Henry Wass Wright shall continue to hold their said offices, the respective sums awarded to them for compensation aforesaid shall cease to be payable to them. And whereas there is now due and owing to the several persons next hereinafter mentioned the following sums: that is to say, to the said George Gatty, 5,304l, 1s. ld.; to the said Henry Ramsay Baines, 5,2741. 17s. 10d.; to the said Richard Mills, 4,6421. 17s. 6d. ; to the said John Wainewright, 6,0547. 13s. 10d.; to the said John Sidney Smith, 3,1221. 4s. 5d.; to the said Thomas George Smith 1,5617. 2s. 4d.; to the said Samuel Silver, 1,1637. 15s. 10d.; to the said George Papps, 1107. 18s. 6d. ; to the said William Erasmus Madox Sherwood, 1951. 6s. 3d; to the said David Drew, 1,5991. 3s. 10d. ; to the said John Veal, 1337, 15s. 7d.; to the said John Alexander Berry, 471. 5s. 4d.; to the said James Bowyer, 9351. 14s. 3d.; and to the said John Miller, 14/. 13s. being the proportionate part of their respective compensations, which accrued from the said 28th day of October, 1842, to the 3d day of November last, and they will also be entitled to receive and be paid, so long as they shall continue in their respective offices as aforesaid (except the said James Bowyer), the future quarterly payments of their said respective compensations; and as to the said James Bowyer, during his life, by quarterly payments, on the 3d day of February, the 3d day of May, the 3d day of August, and the 3d day of November, in every year; the first of such quarterly payments to be made on the 3d day of February next, his Lordship doth order, that out of any cash which may at any time be remaining in the Bank to the credit of the said account, entitled "The Suitors' Fee Fund Account," but subject, and without prejudice to the payment of all salaries and sums of money which, by any Act or Acts in force at the passing of the said recited Act were authorized to be paid thereout, there be paid by the Governor and Company of the Bank of England, to the several persons next hereinafter-mentioned, the following yearly sums; that is to say, George Gatty 5,232 19s. 1d.; Henry Ramsay Baines, 5,2041. 3s. 8d.;
