BLEST be the tie that binds Our hearts in Christian love; The fellowship of kindred minds Is like to that above. 2. Before our Father's throne We pour our ardent prayers; Our fears, our hopes, our aims are one, Our comforts and our cares. 3. We share our mutual woes; Our mutual burdens bear; And often for each other flows The sympathizing tear. 4. When we asunder part, It gives us inward pain; But we shall still be joined in heart, And hope to meet again. 5. This glorious hope revives Our courage by the way; While each in expectation lives, And longs to see the day. 6. From sorrow, toil, and pain, And sin, we shall be free; And perfect love and friendship reign Through all eternity. Vital Union to Christ. 1. DEAR Saviour! we are thine By everlasting bands; Our names, our hearts, we would resign; Our souls are in thy hands. 2. To thee we still would cleave, If millions tempt us Christ to leave, 3. Thy Spirit shall unite Our souls to thee, our Head; 4. Death may our souls divide 5. Since Christ and we are one, Why should we doubt and fear? If he in heaven hath fixed his throne, He'll fix his members there. Doxology. YE angels round the throne, And saints that dwell below, Worship the Father-love the Son, And bless the Spirit, too. 1. THE man is ever blest, Who shuns the sinner's ways; Among their councils never stands, Nor takes the scorner's place: 2. But makes the law of God, His study and delight, Amidst the labors of the day, And watches of the night. 3. He like a tree shall thrive, With waters near the root: Fresh as the leaf his name shall live, His works are heavenly fruit. 4. Not so th' ungodly race; They no such blessings find: Their hopes shall flee like empty chaff 5. How will they bear to stand Before that judgment seat, Where all the saints, at Christ's right hand, In full assembly meet. 2. 'Tis his almighty love, His counsel and his care, Preserves us safe from sin and death, And every hurtful snare. 3. He will present our souls, Unblemished and complete, Before the glory of his face, With joys divinely great. 4. AWAKE, awake to prayer, For souls condemned to die, That through forgiveness they may share 2. Awake, awake to prayer! 1. Pre-pare us, Lord, to view thy cross, Who all our griefs hast borne; To look on thee, whom we have pierced-To look on thee, and mourn. 1. For those in bonds as bound with them 2. Pity, O Lord! that injured race, 3. They sit in darkness, slow to learn 4. All helpless, and without a plan, 5. The means of rescue, and the hour, Thy mercy will reveal: Thine is the wisdom, Thine the power; 417. Trust in God amid Perils. 1. IN time of fear, I'll put my trust in God. 2. And what is life, But toil and strife? Thine arm of power, The trembling soul will save. 3. In darkest skies, Though storms arise, And boundless might, 2. st thou a watch to keep my tongue, 3. But let the righteous, when I stray, Beheld the sire and husband come 3. No more a weeping wife to mock, Till all her hopes in anguish end; No more the trembling child to shock, And sink the father in the fiend. 4. Still give us grace, almighty King!
