CITY OF GLOVERSVILLE

LOCAL LAW No. 1

A local law in relation to public hearings before the mayor on local laws. Became a law July 20, 1927, with the approval of the Mayor, no petition pro-testing. Passed by the local legislative body of the city of Gloversville.

Be it enacted by the common council of the city of Gloversville as follows: Section 1. Whenever a local law after its passage by the common council shall be presented to the mayor for approval, he shall forthwith fix a day for a public hearing concerning such local law and cause public notice of the time and place of such hearing to be given. Such notice shall be given by publication for two successive days in the official newspaper of the city. Such hearing shall be held not earlier than five days after the day of the last publication of such notice. Such notice shall contain the title of the local law and an explanatory statement concerning the same. The mayor shall attend at the time and place appointed for such hearing and afford an opportunity for a public hearing concerning such local law. Such hearing may be adjourned from time to time but an adjournment shall not operate to extend the time of the mayor to approve such local law or return it to the common council with his objections, pursuant to the city home rule law.

§ 2. This local law shall take effect immediately.

LOCAL LAW No. 2

A local law in relation to the terms of office of certain elective officers of the city of Gloversville.

Became a law July 20, 1927, with the approval of the Mayor, no petition protesting. Passed by the local legislative body of the city of Gloversville.

Be it enacted by the common council of the city of Gloversville as follows:

Section 1. The terms of office of the aldermen of the city of Gloversville, New York, to be elected by each ward of said city shall be for two (2) years and the terms of office of the constables of the city of Gloversville, New York, to be elected by the city at large shall be for two (2) years.

2. So much of section eleven of chapter two hundred and seventy-five of the laws of eighteen hundred and ninety-nine, being an act to revise the charter of the city of Gloversville, New York, as is inconsistent with this act is hereby superseded.

§ 3. This local law shall take effect August first, nineteen hundred and twenty-seven.

CITY OF ITHACA

LOCAL LAW No. 1

A local law to amend the Ithaca city charter in relation to the ward boundaries.

Became a law May 4, 1927, with the approval of the Mayor. Passed by the local legislative body of the city of Ithaca.

Be it enacted by the common council of the city of Ithaca as follows:

Section 1. Section three of chapter five hundred and three of the laws of nineteen hundred and eight, entitled "An act to consolidate and revise the several acts relative to the city of Ithaca, as last amended by chapter five hundred and ninety-four of the laws of nineteen hundred and twenty-one, is hereby superseded and enacted as local law to read as follows:

§ 3. The said city shall be divided into five wards, respectively, as follows:

First ward. The first ward shall be all that part of said city bounded by a line commencing at the north city line and the intersection of the center of the Cayuga inlet, or the center line of said Cayuga inlet extended, running thence southerly along said center line of Cayuga inlet and the old channel thereof to the intersection of the center line of Meadow street extended, thence southerly along said line and the center of Meadow street to the center of Cascadilla street, thence in the center of Cascadilla street to the center of Park place, thence in the center of Park place to the center of Esty street, thence in the center of Esty street to the center of Plain street, thence in the center of Plain street to the center of Center street, thence in the center of Center street to the center of Six Mile creek, thence in the center of Six Mile creek to Plain street, thence in the center of Plain street to the south city line, thence along the south city line to the west city line, thence along the west city line to the old north city line, thence easterly along the north city line to the east line of the Lehigh Valley railroad right-of-way, thence northerly along the Lehigh Valley railroad right-of-way to the north city line as established in nineteen hundred and twentyone, thence easterly along the north city line to the place of beginning.

Second ward. The second ward shall be all that part of said city bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of the south city line and the center of Plain street, thence in Plain street to the center of Six Mile creek, thence in Six Mile creek to the center of Center street, thence in Center street to the center of Plain street, thence in Plain street to the center of Seneca street, thence in Seneca street to the center of Cayuga street, thence in Cayuga street to the center of State street, thence in State street to the center of Aurora street, thence in Aurora street to the south city line, thence along the south city line to the place of beginning.

Third ward. The third ward shall be all that part of said city bounded by a line commencing at the north city line and the intersection of the center of the Cayuga inlet, or the center line of said Cayuga inlet extended, running thence southerly along the center line of Cayuga inlet and the old channel to the center line of Meadow street extended, thence southerly along said line and the center of Meadow street to the center of Cascadilla street, thence in Cascadilla street to the center of Park place, thence in Park place to the center of Esty street, thence in Esty street to the center of Plain street, thence in Plain street to the center of Seneca street, thence in Seneca street to the center of Cayuga street, thence in Cayuga street to the center of State street, thence in State street to the center of Tioga street, thence in Tioga street to the center of Court street, thence in Court street to the center of Linn street, thence in Linn street to the center of Cascadilla creek, thence in Cascadilla creek to the city cemetery east line extended, thence along the city cemetery east line to the center of Cornell avenue, thence in Cornell avenue to the center of University avenue, thence in University avenue to the center of Linn street, thence in Linn street to the center of Farm street, thence in Farm street to the center of Aurora street, thence in Aurora street to the center of Marshall street, thence in Marshall street to the center of Cascadilla creek, thence northerly in Cascadilla creek and the Pier road and the center line thereof extended to the north city line, thence along said north line to the place of beginning.

Fourth ward. The fourth ward shall be all that part of said city bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of the center of Aurora street and the south city line, running thence in Aurora street to the center of State street, thence in State street to the center of Tioga street, thence in Tioga street to the center of Court street, thence in Court street to the center of Linn street, thence in Linn street to the center of Cascadilla creek, thence in Cascadilla creek to the center of Stewart avenue, thence in Stewart avenue to the center of Williams street, thence in Williams street to Eddy street and the center of Dryden road, thence in Dryden road and Maple avenue extended to the east city line, thence southerly along the east city line to the south city line, thence along the south city line to the place of beginning.

Fifth ward. The fifth ward shall be all that part of said city bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of the east line and the center line of Maple avenue extended, thence westerly in Maple avenue and Dryden road to Eddy street and the center of Williams street, thence in Williams street to the center of Stewart avenue, thence in Stewart avenue to the center of Cascadilla creek, thence in Cascadilla creek to the city cemetery east line extended, thence along said east line of the city cemetery to the center of Cornell avenue, thence in Cornell avenue to the center of University avenue, thence in University avenue to the center of Linn street, thence in Linn street to the center of Farm street,

thence in Farm street to the center of Aurora street, thence in Aurora street to the center of Marshall street, thence in Marshall street to the center of Cascadilla creek, thence in Cascadilla creek and the Pier road and the center line thereof extended to the north city line, thence easterly along the north city line to the east line of the Lehigh Valley railroad right-of-way, thence southerly along the east line of Lehigh Valley railroad right-of-way and the east line of Cayuga street to the old north city line, thence easterly along the north city line to the east city line, thence along the east city line to the place of beginning.

§ 2. This local law shall take effect immediately.

CITY OF JAMESTOWN

LOCAL LAW No. 1

A local law to amend section forty-nine of chapter six hundred sixty-six of the laws of nineteen hundred and twenty-three and to supersede section three hundred and twenty-nine of chapter nine hundred and thirty-seven of the laws of nineteen hundred and twenty, fixing the fee of a juror at two dollars and fifty cents per day.

Became a law February 14, 1927, with the approval of the Mayor, no petition protesting. Passed by the local legislative body of the city of Jamestown.

Be it enacted by the city council of the city of Jamestown as follows: Section 1. Section forty-nine of chapter six hundred and sixtysix of the laws of nineteen hundred and twenty-three (entitled, the city court of Jamestown) is hereby amended to read as follows:

§ 49. List of jurors; how selected. The list of civil and criminal jurors for the city court of Jamestown must be obtained in the same manner as jury lists are obtained in justice court. The clerk of the city court shall write on separate slips of paper the names of each juror upon such list, and shall place the slips in a box to be called the "undrawn jury box," and no person shall serve as a juror more than once in a calendar year. Each person sworn as a juror, and serving upon the trial of an action or the hearing of a special proceeding, shall be paid two dollars and fifty cents per day.

§ 2. Section three hundred and twenty-nine of chapter nine hundred and thirty-seven of the laws of nineteen hundred and twenty is hereby superseded by this local law as to jurors within the jurisdiction of the city court of Jamestown.

§ 3. This local law shall take effect immediately.

LOCAL LAW No. 2

A local law to abolish the party primary in the nomination of candidates for the elective offices of the city of Jamestown; to provide for the nomination of those candidates by petition, and superseding certain sections of the election law in relation thereto.

Became a law July 5, 1927, with the approval of the Mayor, no petition protesting. Passed by the local legislative body of the city of Jamestown. Be it enacted by the city council of the city of Jamestown as follows: 1. This law shall apply to the nomination of all candidates for election to the public offices of this city, including judge of the city court of Jamestown and members of the Chautauqua county board of supervisors. This law shall not apply to the nomination of candidates for party positions within this city.

2. No primary shall be called or held for the purpose of nominating candidates for the city offices specified in the preceding
