419 "Behold I lay in Zion a chief Corner-stone."

CHRIST is our Corner-stone,
On Him alone we build ;
With His true saints alone

The courts of heaven are filled :
On His great love
Our hopes we place
Of present grace
And joys above.

2 Oh! then with hymns of praise
These hallowed courts shall ring;
Our voices we will raise,
The Three in One to sing;
And thus proclaim
In joyful song,

Both loud and long,
That glorious Name.

3 Here, gracious God, do Thou
For evermore draw nigh;
Accept each faithful vow,
And mark each suppliant sigh;
In copious shower,

On all who pray
Each holy day,

Thy blessing pour.

4 Here may we gain from heaven
The grace which we implore;
And may that grace, once given,
Be with us evermore,

Until that day

When all the blest

To endless rest

Are called away! Amen.

420 "Jesus Christ Himself being the chief Corner-stone."

1 CHRIST is made the sure Foundation,
Christ the Head and Corner-stone,
Chosen of the Lord and precious,
Binding all the Church in one,
Holy Zion's help for ever,

And her confidence alone.

2 All that dedicated city,

Dearly loved of God on high,
In exultant jubilation

Pours perpetual melody,
God the One in Three adoring
In glad hymns eternally.

3 To this temple, where we call Thee,
Come, O Lord of hosts, to-day:
With Thy wonted loving-kindness
Hear Thy servants as they pray,
And Thy fullest benediction

Shed within its walls alway.

4 Here vouchsafe to all Thy servants
What they ask of Thee to gain,
What they gain from Thee for ever
With the blessed to retain,
And hereafter in Thy glory
Evermore with Thee to reign.

5 Praise and honour to the Father,
Praise and honour to the Son,
Praise and honour to the Spirit,
Ever Three and ever One,
One in might, and One in glory,
While eternal ages run.

Amen.

421

"Hear Thou in Heaven."

1 WHEN the weary, seeking rest,
To Thy goodness flee;
When the heavy-laden cast
All their load on Thee;

When the troubled, seeking peace,

On Thy Name shall call;
When the sinner, seeking life,
At Thy feet shall fall:

Hear, then, in love, O Lord, the cry,
In heaven, Thy dwelling-place on high.

2 When the worldling, sick at heart,
Lifts his soul above;

When the prodigal looks back
To his Father's love;

When the proud man from his pride
Stoops to seek Thy face;

When the burdened brings his guilt
To Thy throne of grace:

Hear, then, in love, O Lord, the cry,
In heaven, Thy dwelling-place on high.

[3 When the stranger asks a home,
All his toils to end;
When the hungry craveth food,
And the poor a friend;
When the sailor on the wave

Bows the fervent knee;
When the soldier on the field

Lifts his heart to Thee:

Hear, then, in love, O Lord, the cry,
In heaven, Thy dwelling-place on high.]

4 When the man of toil and care
In the city crowd;

When the shepherd on the moor
Names the Name of God;
When the learned and the high,
Tired of earthly fame,
Upon higher joys intent,

Name the blessèd Name:

Hear, then, in love, O Lord, the cry,
In heaven, Thy dwelling-place on high.

5 When the child, with grave fresh lip,
Youth, or maiden fair;
When the aged, weak and grey,
Seek Thy face in prayer;
When the widow weeps to Thee,
Sad and lone and low;
When the orphan brings to Thee
All his orphan woe:

Hear, then, in love, O Lord, the cry,
In heaven, Thy dwelling-place on high.

6 When creation, in her pangs,
Heaves her heavy groan;
When Thy Salem's exiled sons
Breathe their bitter moan;
When Thy waiting, weeping Church,

Looking for a home,

Sendeth up her frequent sigh,

Come, Lord Jesus, come!

Hear, then, in love, O Lord, the cry,

In heaven, Thy dwelling-place on high.

Amen.

Almsgiving.

422 "All things come of Thee, and of Thine own have we given Thee."

1 O LORD of heaven and earth and sea,
To Thee all praise and glory be;
How shall we show our love to Thee,
Giver of all ?

2 The golden sunshine, vernal air,
Sweet flowers and fruit Thy love declare;
Where harvests ripen, Thou art there,
Giver of all.

3 For peaceful homes, and healthful days,
For all the blessings earth displays,
We owe Thee thankfulness and praise,
Giver of all.

4 Thou didst not spare Thine only Son,
But gav❜st Him for a world undone,
And e'en that gift Thou dost outrun,
And give us all.

5 Thou giv'st the Spirit's blessed dower-
Spirit of life and love and power-
And dost His sevenfold graces shower
Upon us all.

6 For souls redeemed, for sins forgiven, For means of grace and hopes of heaven, What can to Thee, O Lord, be given, Who givest all?
