Thirty MSS. read, with the Sam. n, and four, with the Sam., which are more regular. Ten MSS, read, with the Sam. n, as it appears c. xxviii. 21; and, if we compare c. xxviii. 21 with this, it will appear very probable, that, instead of, which is wanting in two MSS. we should read 1, which is supplied by all the versions.

15th. Four MSS. read, with the Sam. n, which the grammatical construction requires.

Eighty-one MSS. read, with the Keri, nya, which is certainly preferable to the present reading; but it is probable that the true reading is was, the reason for which see c. xxxviii. 3. Two MSS. read, in the next place, nya, and twenty-six, with the Sam., which the grammatical construction requires. The Sam. in the latter part of this verse, adds thus; "and they made the Urim and the Thummim, as the Lord commanded Moses." And, that this. addition is proper, see c. xxviii. 30.

228. One MS. reads, with the Sam. 1, see before and after, which all the versions follow. The Sam. reads byn, as it is written twice afterwards in the verses following.

24th. The Sam. supplies, with three MSS. the word

Syr. and Vulg. followed a copy which read thus. The Sam. supplies these two words in c. xxviii. 33, where it is proper they should be inserted.

26th.

The Sam. reads an after 1 in both places, as it is found, c. xxviii. 34, which the Sept. and Vulg. followed.

27th.

Three MSS.. read on, which is followed by all the versions, except the Syr. See c. xxviii.

Twenty MSS. read, with the Sam. nyan, which the Syr. Ar. Vulg. and Chald. follow. The word seems to be redundant.

But this office does not appear to be assigned to Moses any where else; and, as the washings concerned only Aaron and his sons, c. xxx. 19, I think we should omit, with one MS., and read, with the Sam. and seven MSS. 18, "and Aaron and his sons washed," &c.
