use.

3. The introduction of words in sentences. sented in sentences for dictation which are easily within the comprehension of children. This helps in the association of the form, sound, and meaning of the words. The words are printed without syllable indication to train in vizualization. In most of the lessons the new words are printed a second time showing syllables and accent marks to aid in pronunciation.

4. The systematic review of words. The reviews are varied, frequent, and timely. They are sufficient without waste of time to fix the correct forms of the words. Irregular verbs, certain plurals and numerals, and other troublesome words have been given the extra drill which they require.

5. The effective presentation of homonyms. Homonyms are first presented separately so as to avoid unnecessary confusion, but they are afterwards drilled until there is no question in distinguishing the form and the use.

6. The presentation of simple spelling rules. The opportunity is given for the practical application of the most useful spelling rules.

7. The teaching of pronunciation. The spelling words are presented in syllabicated form with accent indicated for correct pronunciation. The words are printed also without division into syllables in order to aid in the correct visualization of the word.
