to the Governors' solicitor as has been before observed.

As to the purchase of a House.

If an Incumbent proposes to purchase a house with money appropriated by the Governors of Queen Anne's Bounty to the augmentation of his living, it will be necessary for him to make application to their Secretary, and to name three beneficed Clergymen and three Laymen of respectability to be commissioners, in a commission of inquiry as to the eligibility of such intended purchase, and to proceed in the same manner as is directed in that part of this book which treats of purchases generally.

By an Act passed in the 57th year of his late Majesty King George the Third (chap. 99, sec. 7,) after reciting that the Governors of Queen Anne's Bounty had in some instances purchased, and might thereafter purchase houses not situated within the parishes for which they are purchased, but so contiguous as to be sufficiently convenient and suitable for the residence. of the officiating ministers thereof, it was enacted, "that such houses having been previously approved by the Bishop by writing under his hand and seal, and duly registered in the registry of the diocese, shall be deemed houses of residence appertaining to such benefices to all intents and purposes whatsoever."
