his angels; and prevailed not, neither was there place found
any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out,
that old ferpent, called the devil and Satan, which deceiveth
the whole world; he was cast out into the earth, and his
angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice,
saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and
the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Chrift: for
the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them
before our God day and night. And they overcame him by
the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony ;
and they loved not their lives unto the death. Therefore
rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Wo to the
inhabiters of the earth, and of the sea : for the devil is comę
down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth
that he hath but a short time.

The Gospel. St Matth. xviii. 1.
T the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying,

Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven ? And Jelus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, and said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himfelf as this little child, the came is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoso shall receive one such little child in my Name, receiveth me. But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a milftone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Wo unto the world because of offences : for it must needs be that of fences come ; bur wo to that man by whom the offence cometh. Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast chein from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into everlasting fire. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee : . it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell-fire. Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you,

The Epistle. 2 Tim. iv. 5.
ATCH thou in all things, endure amictions, do the

work of an Evangelist, make full proof of thy miniftry. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous Judge shall give me at chat day : and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me: For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica ; Crescens to Galaţia, Titus unto Dalmatia. Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry. And Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus. The cloke that I left at Troas with Çarpus, when thou comest,

The Gospel. St Luke x. I.
THE Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them

two and two before his face into every city and place whither he himself would come. Therefore said he unto <them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few; pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would fend forth labourers into his harvest. Go your ways, behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes, and falure no man by the way. And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it : if not, it shall turn to you again. And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire.

The Epiftle. St Jude i. UDE the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James,

to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and prelerved in Jesus Christ, and called: Mercy unto you, and peace, and love be multiplied. Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you, that ye fhould earnestly contend for the faith which was once deliVored unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation; ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousnels, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. I will therefore put you brance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afcerward destroyed them that believed not. And the angels which kept not their first eltate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness, unto the judgment of the great day. Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them, in like manner giving themselves over to fornicacion, and going after ftrange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the Aesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.

The Gospel. St John xv. 17. THESE things I command you, that ye love one ano

ther. If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own : but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The fervant is not greater than the Lord: if they have persecuted me, they will also perfecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my names fake, because they know not him that sent me. If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had fin: but now they have no cloke for their fin. He chat batech me, hateth any Father also. If I had

not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had fin; but now have they both seen, and hated both me and my Father. But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause. But when the Comforter is come, whom I send unto you, from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me. And ye also shall bear witness, because ye

have been with me from the beginning.

For the Epiftle. Rev. vii. 2.
ND I saw another angel ascending from the cast,

having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth, and the sea, saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
