The Epistle. 1 St Peter iv. 2.
THE end of all things is at hand; be ye therefore fober,

and watch unto prayer. And aboye all things have fervent charity among yourselves : for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. Ule hospitality one to another without grudging. As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If any man ipeak, let him speak as the oracles of God: If any man minister, lee him do it as of the ability which God giveth, that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. The Gospel. St John xv, 26. and Part of the 16th Chapter. THEN the comforter is come, whom I will send unto

For the Epiftle. Acts ii. 1.
HEN the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were

all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a found from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues, like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem, Jews, devout men out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noifed abroad, the multitude

tame together, and were confounded, because that every man hear them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed, and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak, Galileans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born ? Par: thians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mefopotamia, and in Judea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and Profelytes, Cretes and Arabians; we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

The Gospel. St John xiv. 15.
ESUS said unto his disciples, If ye love me, keep my

commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he fhall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever ; even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it feech him not, neither knoweth him : but ye

know him ; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless; I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more: but ye fee me: because I live, ye shall live also. At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. He that hath my commandments and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me; and he that loveth me, shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. Judas faith unto him (nor Iscariot) Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world: Jefus answered and said unto him, If a man love nie, he will keep my words : and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not, keepeth not my sayings: and the word which you hear, is not mine ; but the Father's which fent me. Thele things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. But the comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my Name, he shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you ; my peace I give unto you: not as the

world

world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Ye have heard how I faid unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father : for my Father is greater than I. And now I have told you beture it come to pals, that when it is come to pals, ye might believe. Hereafter I will not talk much with you : for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me. But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave me commandment, even fo I do.

OD, who as at this time didst teach the hearts of thy

faithful people, by the sending to them the light of thy Holy Spirit; Grant us by the fame Spirit to have a right judgment in all things, and evermore to rejoice in his holy comfort, through the merits of Christ Jefu our Saviour, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the Unity of the same Spirit, one God, world without end. For the Epiftle. Aēts x. 34. WHEN Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth

of ;

every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ (he is Lord of all) That word, I say, you know, which was published throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached': How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power, who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil : for God was with him. And we are witnesses of all things which he did, both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem ; whom chey flew and hanged on a tree : Him Gód raised up the third day, and shewed him openly ;

not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God; even to us who did eat and drink with him, after he rose from the dead. And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to teltify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead. To him give all the prophets witness, that through his Name whosoever believeth in him, shall receive remission of fins. While Peter yet spake thele words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them who heard the word. And they of the circumcision who believed, were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghoft. For they heard them speak with tongues, and mag. nify God. Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the Name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

The Gospel. St John iii. 16.
OD so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten

Son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him, is not condemned: but he that believeth not, is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the Name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil, hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, left his deeds lould be reproved. But he that doch truth, cometh to the light, that liis deeds may be made manifeft, that they are wrought in God.
