To entitle a claimant to any of the foregoing premiums for the reclaiming of mountain, fo as it may be in tillage or meadow, it must be made to appear to the fociety, that the reclaimed mountain has produced a crop of corn, or hay, or potatoes; and that the mountain before reclaiming, was not worth more, nor would fet to a folvent tenant for more, than three fhillings yearly, per acie.

Mountain reclaimed by poor Renters. To the poor renter or renters of mountain, having a leafe thereof, for one or more lives, or for not lefs than 20 years from the commencement of the fame, who fhall have effectually reclaimed, fo that in the year 1775, it fhall be in tillage or meadow, any quantity of mountain (not lefs than one acre) but no higher premium to be given to any one claimant than for two acres, the fociety will give a premium of forty fhillings for every fuch acre of reclaimed mountain: The fum of 2001. will be appropriated in these premiums to each of the provinces, and if more than 100 acres fhould appear to have been reclaimed by fuch claimants from any one province, then the fum of 2001. fhall be divided among them in premiums to each, according as he shall appear to have reclaimed two acres, or one. No perfon will be entitled to receive any of these premiums offered to poor renters, who holds above 20 acres of arable land.

The fum of 200l. will be appropriated in thefe premiums to each of the provinces 800l. The claims must be fent in on or before the 21ft day of Dec. 1775, to be adjudged on the Ift day of February 1776.

Moore reclaimed by poor Renters.

To the poor renter or renters of wet, moory, ground, nct properly coming under the denomination of bog or mountain, having a lease thereof for one or more lives, or for not lefs than 20 years from the commencement of the fame, who fhall have effectually reclaimed, fo that in the year 1775, it shall be in tillage or meadow, any quantity of fuch moory ground, not leis than one acre, but no higher premium to be given than for two acres, the fociety will give a premium of forty fhillings for every fuch acre of reclaimed moore: The fum of 801 will be appropriated in these premiums to each of the provinces, and if more than 40 acres fhould appear to have been reclaimed by such claimants from any one province, then the fum of 80l. fhall be divided among them in premiums of 41. or 21. to each, according as he shall appear to have reclaimed, two acres or one.

No perfon fhall be entitled to receive any of these premiums offered to poor renters, who holds above 20 acres of arable land.

The fum of Sol. will be appropriated in thefe premiums to each of the provinces 320l.

The claims must be fent in on or before the 21ft day of December, 1775, to be adjudged on the ift day of February, 1776.

The affidavit of the claimant that he never received any premium from the Dublin Society, for the faid reclaimed moore; and alfo, his affidavit with that of fome other perfon, together with a certificate from a neighbouring justice of the peace concerning the improvement made, will be required at the time of adjudging these premiums.

Wheat.

It has been found that beans or peas planted in rows or drills by children, as in a garden, or by a dibber, or fown with a drill plough, will anfwer for the advantage of fummer fallowing in preparing land for wheat, provided the intervals be kept clean by ploughing them at least three times or more, if the growth of weeds fhould require it.

The fociety will therefore give to the perfon who fhall in the year 1775, fow with wheat the greateft quantity of land (not lefs than 2 acres) on which there had been a crop of beans or peas in rows or drills the fame year, a premium of 21. andalfo, a premium of 10 fhillings for every acre above five, the whole number not exceeding twenty.

This premium will be given proportionably to each of the five claimants who thall appear to have fown with wheat, in the manner abovementioned, the greateft quantity of land; but no claimant who fhall have fown lefs than 2 acres, will be entitled to any premium.

The fum of 551. will be appropriated in these premiums to each of the provinces 2201. To be adjudged the 23d of Nov. 1775. The fowing of beans or peas, as preparative to wheat, may fucceed to any erop but wheat, or it may be done on lay ground; the rows or drills fhould be kept clean of grafs or weeds by a garden hoe, or by hand: They who have no inftrument but the common fwing-plough, fhould have the rows three feet asunder; they who make ufe of the horse-hoe or break, may have the rows but two feet afunder, or at any diftance, fo as to give room for a horse to draw the inftrument between rows without damaging the crop. The fowing of one acre with beans or peas by hand, in the manner mentioned, is equal to fix days labour; half a barrel of beans or peas is fufficient feed for one

acre.

To the perfon who fhall in the year 1775, reap the greatest quantity of wheat by the acre, and from no lefs than 10 acres of ground, to have been fown before the 1ft of November 1774, with no more than 12 ftone of feed to the acre, half of the feed fown and covered with the plough, and then the other half to have been fown on the fame ground and covered with the harrow 151. To the perfon who fhall in the year 1775, reap the greateft quantity of wheat by the acre, and from no less than 5 acres of ground, to have been fown in the like manner, and before the 1ft of November 1774 71. 108. The fum of 241. will be appropriated in these premiums to each of the four provinces 961. To be adjudged the 2d of May 1776.

The fum of 50l. will be appropriated to each of the four provinces, to be given in premiums at the rate of ten fhillings for every acre, to perfons who, in the year 1775, fhall fow land with turnips for the feeding of cattle, and fhall give the fame three hand-hoeings; and if more than one hundred acres fhould appear to have been fowed with turnips and hoed as aforefaid, by the claimants from any one province, then the fum of fifty pounds fhall be divided among fuch claimants proportionably to the quantity of land which each fhall have fown and hoed as aforefaid 2001.

31. The fum of 63h will be appropriated in thefe premiums to each of the provinces 2521. To be adjudged the 9th of May 1776.

It is recommended to put down the cabbages at the distance of about 18 inches from each other in the rows, and that the rows fhould be about two and an half feet diftant from each other, and if the foil be poor, to put a fmall quantity of dung or rich mold to the root of each plant.

MANUFACTURES.
Silken Manufacture.
Silks jeld in the Ware-Houfe.

HE fum of 50l. will be given in premiums of fix and an half per cent on the value of Irish filken goods, which fhall be fold in the Irish filk ware-houfe, by retail, according to the prefent rules of the faid houfe, from the ift of June 1775, inclufive, to the 1ft of June 1776 650!.

To be adjudged as the goods are fold.

A fum not exceeding 450l. will be given to defray all expences whatever of the faid warehoufe, from the 1ft of June 1775, inclufive, to the ift of June 1776.

Silks fold by Wholesale.

Premiums of 31. per cent. will be given to the wholefale buyers of filks, for the purpose of felling again, on the value of fuch goods, provided the fame shall not exceed 20,000l. and if it should, then the fum of 6ool. will be given in proportion to the value of filken goods fo bought, refpe&tively, by each claimant, from the 1 of June 1774, inclufive, to the 1ft of June 1775

Additional Encouragement for ditto. The fum of 200l. will also be given as an additional encouragement to the above premiums of three pounds per cent rateably and poportionably to the value of Irish filks which hall be bought by wholefale, for the purpose of felling again, by each claimant refpectively, from the 1st of June 1774, inclufive, to the 1st of June 1775; provided the filks for which the faid additional encouragement is offered,

be of the value of five shillings and fix pence, per yard, or upwards

To be adjudged the 16th of Nov. 1775. The above premiums for the encouragement of felling Irish filks by wholefale, will be continued in like manner, from the 1st of June 1775, to the 1ft of June 1776; provided parliament fhall enable the fociety fo to do. Erecting Mountures.

Premiums of 251. per cent will be given on the cost of every mounture, for the manufacturing of flowered or figured filks for garments, of the value of feven shillings per yard, or upwards, and which shall be erected between the ift of June 1774, and the 1st of June 1775, and if the value of fuch mountures erected within the faid time, fhould exceed the fum of 600l. then the fum of 150l. fhall be divided among the claimants proportionably to the value of mountures which each fhall have erected 150l. To be adjudged the 2d of Nov. 1775.

Each claimant is to make affidavit concerning the charges he has been at, in erecting the mounture or mountures, for which any premiten may be adjudged to him.

WOOLLEN MANUFACTUREBroad Cloths manufactured and finished not nearer than 20 Miles to Dublin.

HE sum of 200l. will be paid in premiunts

of 61. per cent on the value of broad cloths and broad rugs, which shall be fold or exposed to fale in any city, town corporate, or market town in this kingdom, to be entirely manufactured and completely finished at a distance of not lefs than 20 miles from the city of Dublin, and not within the city or liberties of the city of Cork, from the 24th of June 1774, inclufive, to the 24th of June 1775, by per fons who have twice already obtained premiums for fuch goods manufactured at or above the diftance aforefaid from the city of Dublin and the city of Cork.

And if it should appear that fuch goods to more than the value of 33331. 6s. 8d. fhall be fo manufactured by fuch perfons within the faid time, then the sum of 2001. shall be divided in proportion to the value of the goods refpectively manufactured by each claimant 2001.

To be adjudged the 23d of Nov. 1775.

The tum of zool. will be paid in premiums not exceeding eight and 1-third per cent on the value of broad cloths and broad rugs which fhall be fold, or expofed to fale in any city, town corporate, or market town of this kingdom, to be entirely manufactured and completely finished at a diftance of not less than 20 miles from the city of Dublin, and not within the city or the liberties of the city of Cork, from the 24th of June, 1774, inclufive, to the 24th of June, 1775, by perfons who have already once obtained premiums for fuch goods, manufactured at or above the distance aforefaid, from the city of Dublin, and the city of Cork.

And if it fhould appear that fuch goods to more than the value of 2400l. fhall be fo manufactured by fuch perfons within the faid time, then the fum of 2001. fhall be divided in pro

And if it should appear that fuch goods to more than the value of 2000l. shall be so manufactured by such perfons within the faid time, then the fum of 2001. fhall be divided in proportion to the value of goods refpectively manufactured by each claimant 2001. To be adjudged the 23d of Novem. 1775. Provided that to afcertain the value and quantity of fuch goods, they fhall be depofited in a hall or room in any city, town corporate, or market town of this kingdom, which shall be provided for that purpose; that every piece be there viewed and examined by an infpector, to be approved of by the fociety, who is to certify upon oath before the chief magiftrate of fuch city or town corporate, that the faid broad cloths and broad rugs have been well and fufficiently manufactured, and compleatly finished, and that the prices at which they shall be rated by the manufacturers, are reasonable.

The faid infpectors fhall be allowed for their trouble in fo doing, three-pence per piece, to be paid proportionably by fuch claimants as may obtain premiums.

Every claimant must prove to the society's fatisfaction that the place where his faid goods had been manufactured, had been alfo his place of refidence.

Superfine Warp or Woof Yarn. To the undertaker fcribblers who fhall caufe to be fcribbled and spun for warp or woof, fuper fine yarn fit for fuperfine broad cloths, from the ift of June 1774, to the 1st of June 1775, the fum of 240l. Provided the faid undertaker fcribblers fhall have paid weekly to the spinners of the faid yarn one farthing per kain more than they have hitherto done, according to the quantity fo fpun, and shall prove that they have fo done, to the fatisfaction of the fociety.

To be adjudged the 30th of Nov. 1775. Superfine Broad Cloths, bought in the woollen Ware boufe.

To the perfon or perfons who fhall buy superfine broad cloths by wholesale in the Irish woollen-ware-house, established for the encouragement of manufactured woollen goods for home confumption, from the 1ft day of June 1774, to the ift day of June 1775, a fum not exceed ing 250l. will be given in proportion to the quantity of fuch broad cloths fo fold, at a rate not exceeding 31. per cent. And if it should apAugust, 1775

more than the fur of 83331. 6s. 8d. then the fum of 250l. fhall be divided in proportion to the value of the goods refpectively fo fold to each person 2501.

To be adjudged the 2d of Nov. 1775

Country Farn.

For warp yarn fit for broad cloths, which fhall be fcribbled and spun, at the distance of at leaft 10 miles from the city of Dublin, from the 1ft of June 1774, inclufive, to the ft of June 1775; premium will be given of one penny per fkain, provided the number of skains of fuch yarn fhall not exceed 25000, and if it fhould, then the fum of 1041. 3s. 40. fhall be divided among the claimants proportionably to the quantity which each fhall have scribbled and fpun 1041. 38. 43. To be adjudged the 2d of Nov. 1775Callimancoes, Ruffells and Broad Stuffs. For making and Telling from the 24th of June, 1774, to the 24th of June, 1775, at the distance of at least 30 miles from the city of Dublin, and 20 miles from the city of Cork, Callimancoes of fingle worsted, and full fifteen inches wide. Ruffels and broad stuffs, all of fingle worsted, and equal in quality to fuch as are imported. A premium of 51. per cent. will be given on the value of fuch goods, or of any one of the faid forts, provided the value of what shall have been fo made and fold by all the claimants together, fhall not exceed the fum of 400ol. and if it should, then the sum of 200l. will be divided among the claimants proportionably to the value of fuch goods by them respectively manufactured: The above premiums to be given to fuch claimants only as have never received a premium from the society, to the amount of 100k for the said pur pofe

To be adjudged the 7th of December, 1775The foregoing premiums for the encouragement of the woollen manufacture of this kingdom will be continued in like manner from the 24th of June 1775, to the 24th of June 1776; provided parliament shall enable the fociety fo to do.

A

Importing Bark.

PREMIUM of ten fhillings per ton will be given to the perfon or perfons who fhall import into this kingdom good and merchantable oak bark fit for tanning, from the Eaft and Northern countries, Spain, Holland, or America, between the 1ft day of Nov. 1774, and the ift day of Nov. 1775, provided that the faid premiums fhall not exceed the fum of 300l. and if it should, then the said sum of 300l to be divided proportionably to the impor ters, according to the quantity of fuch bark by each of them refpectively imported.

To be adjudged the 14th of Decem. 1775.
MANUFACTURE of MIXED GOODS.
Crapes.

OR the manufacturing of crapes, common

Fly called Norwich crapes, of 18. 4d. and

upwards, per yard, from the 10th of March 1775, inclufive, to the 10th of March 1776, 51. per cent. fhall be given on the value of fuch crapes, provided the fame fhall not exceed 800l. and Sff

if it should, then the fum of 401. fhall be divided proportionably to the value of crapes manufactured by each claimant 401. To be adjudged the 14th of March, 1776. Bombazines.

For the manufacturing of bombazines of 25. and upwards, per yard, from the 10th of March, 1775, inclufive, to the 10th of March, 1776, of the fame kinds and qualities with thofe ufually imported, 10l. per cent. will be given on the value of fuch bombazines, provided the fame fhall not exceed 150l. and if it fhould, then the fum of 251. fhall be divided proportionably to the value of bombazines manufactured by each claimant 251. To be adjudged the 14th of March, 1775.

Gauzes.

For the manufacturing of gauzes, or filk mixt with linen, cotton, gold, or filver thread, from the 10th of March, 1775, inclufive, to the 10th of March, 1776, rol. per cent. will be given on the value of fuch gauzes, provided the fame fhall not exceed 100l. and if it fhould, then the fum of 1ol. fhall be divided proportionably to the value of gauzes manufactured by each claimant tol. To be adjudged the 14th of March, 1776. Lutherines.

For the manufacturing of lutherines, from the 1st of August, 1773, inclufive, to the ift of Auguft, 1774, 10l. per cent. will be given on the value of fuch lutherines, provided the fame shall not exceed 150l. and if it fhould, then the fum of 151. will be divided proportionably to the value of lutherines manufactured by each claimant 151. To be adjudged the 2d of November, 1775. And for afcertaining the quantity and value of each of thefe articles of mixed goods, the inspector for the time being of the goods fent into the Irish filk ware-house, fhall examine the fame, and certify to the fociety the quantity and goodness of each article, with the name of the manufacturer; for which he fhall be allowed two-pence, per piece, out of the premiums, for the goods he shall fo examine. The foregoing premiums offered for the encouragement of manufacturing mixed goods, will be given by the fociety only on condition that parliament fhall enable them fo to do. Wicker-ware.

A premium of 251. per cent. will be given to the perfon or perfons who fhall make and fell wicker-ware equal to the famples produced by Thomas Walsh of Ballyboy, in the years 1774 and 1775; provided that the value of goods fo made and fold fhall not exceed the fum of 100l. in each year; and provided alfo, that such claimant or claimants fhall produce certificates that he or they refpectively have taught the faid art to any two charity fchools in this metropolis.

To be adjudged the 25th of January, 1776.
Malt.

To the perfon who fhall between the ft of October, 1774, and the first of October, 1775, bring to Dui lin, and there fell of his own property, and made by him within the time aforefaid, at the distance of upwards of thirty miles from the faid city, the greatest quantity

To be adjudged the 21st of December, 1775. John Stephens is appointed to take samples of the malt when brought to Dublin, as ufual; and is to be paid at the rate of two fhillings in the pound for his trouble, to be deducted out of each claimant's premium. Fisheries..

A premium of 201. per cent. will be given upon all money which shall be hereafter laid out in building houfes of lime and ftone, or brick, for curing fish, or fmoak-houses for fmoaking of fifh, upon the north west coast of this kingdom; provided the same shall not exceed the fum of 300l. and if claims to a greater amount should be approved of by the fociety, the faid fum of 300l. to be rateably divided among the claimants: Who must lay before the fociety plans of the faid buildings, with a particular account of the materials of which they shall be constructed: The faid premium to be paid only for new buildings which shall be begun fubfequent to the last day of the month of June, 1775, and completely finished before the first day of June, 1776.

To be adjudged the 13th of June, 1776.

A premium of 201. per cent. will be given upon any fum or fums of money which shall be hereafter expended in erecting proper workhouses, and ware-houses of lime and ftone, or brick, for coopers, on that part of the coaft of Donegal, called the Roffes, or at Killybegs, or at any place between the fame; upon fecurity given, that the said buildings shall not be turned to any other use for seven years after receiving the faid premium, or any part thereof; and provided the fame shall not exceed the fum of 2001. and if it fhould, the fum of 200l. to be rateably divided among the claimants, who must lay before the fociety plans of the faid buildings, with a particular account of the materials of which they fhall be constructed: The faid premiums to be paid only for new buildings which shall be begun subsequent to the last day of the month of June 1775, and completely finished before the first day of June, 1776.
