Grant that I may acknowledge aright, what and how great these thy Benefits are, and that for the fame, I may always give thee Thanks. Beftow moreover upon me thy Grace, and lighten me with the Beams of thy Spirit, in removing the dark Clouds of my Mind, that I may defireously and gladly learn thefe Things which are taught unto me by my Teachers, that I faithfully keep in Memory, that I may render Account again thereof readily, and with Judgment, left my Teachers Labour and mine (the precious Time, and this fo meet an Occafion given unto me of thee, and the Fruits which are hoped for of me) fhamefully perifh not, through my Unthankfulness and Sluggishnefs. To the end this come not to pals, give me thy holy Spirit, the Author of all Urderftanding and Truth, that he may make me faithful, able and meet to comprehend thefe Things. Lord God and heavenly Father, we give

thee Thanks for thy great and infinite Bcnefits, which thou beftoweft upon us miferable Sinners, of thine incomprehenfible Mercy at all Times, in that thou upholdeft us in this mortal Life, furnishing unto us all Things that are neceffary, but chiefly that thou vouchfafeft to regenerate us by the holy Doctrine of thy Gospel, unto the Hope of a better Life. We befeech thee merciful God and Father, not to fuffer our Minds to be occupied in thefe earthly and tranfitory. Things, but that they may look up, and feek the Things that are in Heaven, waiting for the Coming of our Saviour Christ Jesus, when he appears in the Clouds to deliver us. So be it. Our Father, &c.

Merciful God, I a wretched Sinner acknowledge my felf bound to keep thy holy Commandments, but yet unable to perform them, and to be accepted for juft, without the Righteoufness of Jefus Chrift thy only Son, who hath

perfectly fulfilled thy Law, to juftify all Men that believe and truft in him; therefore grant me the Grace, I beseech thee, to be occupied in doing of good Works, which thou commandeft in holy Scripture, all the Days of my Life, to thy Glory, and yet to truft only in thy Mercy, and in Christ's Merits, to be purged from my Sins, and not in my good Works, be they never fo many: Give me Grace to love thy Word fervently, to fearch the Scriptures diligently, to read them humbly, to understand them truly, to live after them effectually Order my self fo, O Lord, that it may be alway acceptable unto thee. Give me Grace not to rejoyce in any Thing that displeaseth thee, but evermore to delight in thofe Things that please thee, be they never fo contrary to my Defires. Teach me fo to pray, that my Petitions may be graciously heard of thee. Keep me upright amongst Diversities of Opinions and Judgments in the World, that I never fwerve from thy Truth taught in holy Scripture. In Profperity, O Lord, fave me,that I wax not proud,in Adverfity help me, that I never despair nor blafpheme thy holy Name, but taking it patiently, to give thee Thanks, and truft to be delivered after thy Pleasure.
