For they watch for your souls.
Heb. xiii. 17.

LET Zion's watchmen all awake.

And take the alarm they give;
Now let them, from the mouth of God,
Their solemn charge receive.

2 'Tis not a cause of small import
The pastor's care demands;
But what might fill an angel's heart,
And filled a Saviour's hands.

8 They watch for souls, for which the Lord
Did heavenly bliss forego :-

For souls which must for ever live
In raptures or in woe.

4 All to the great tribunal haste,
The account to render there;

And shouldst Thou strictly mark our faults,
Lord, how should we appear?

5 May they that Jesus whom they preach,
Their own Redeemer see;

And watch Thou daily o'er their souls,
That they may watch for Thee.

Being ensamples to the flock.-1 Pet. v. 3. 1 YHIEF Shepherd of Thy chosen sheep,

From death and sin set free,

May every under-shepherd keep

2 With plenteous grace their hearts prepare, To execute Thy will;

Compassion, patience, love, and care,
And faithfulness and skill.

3 Inflame their minds with holy zeal
Thy flock to feed and teach;
And let them live, and let them feel,
The sacred truths they preach.

the Lord of the harvest.
Matt. ix. 38.

ORD of the harvest, hear

LoThy of the bevett, he

Answer Thy people's earnest prayer,
And all our wants supply.

On Thee we humbly wait;
Our wants are in Thy view;
The harvest truly, Lord, is great;
The labourers are few.

Convert and send forth more

Into Thy church abroad;

And let them speak Thy word with power,
Co-workers with their God.

O let them spread Thy name;
Their mission fully prove;

Thy universal grace proclaim,
Thine all-embracing love.

Pastors according to my heart.
Jer. iii. 15.

HEPHERD of Israel, Thou dost keep
With constant care Thy humble sheep;
From Thee, the under-shepherds come,
To feed our souls, and guide us home.
2 To all Thy churches such impart,
Pastors according to Thy heart;
Whose courage, watchfulness, and love,
Men may attest, and God approve.

8 Here hast Thou listened to our vows,
And scattered blessings on Thy house;
Thy saints are succoured, and no more
As sheep without a guide deplore.
4 Completely heal each former stroke,
And bless the shepherd and the flock :
Confirm the hopes Thy mercies raise,
And own this tribute of our praise.

A faithful minister of Christ.-Col. i. 7. ITH heavenly power, O Lord, defend, Him whom we now to Thee commend; Thy faithful messenger secure,

And make him to the end endure.

2 Gird him with all-sufficient grace;
Direct his feet in paths of peace;
Thy truth and faithfulness fulfil,
And arm him to obey Thy will.

8 Enlarge, inflame, and fill his heart;
In him Thy mighty power exert,
That thousands, yet unborn, may praise
The wonders of redeeming grace.

2 Jesus, let all Thy servants shine
Illustrious as the sun,

And, bright with borrowed rays divine,
Their glorious circuit run.

3 In far off lands, O let them spread
Their light where'er they go,
And heavenly influences shed
On all the world below.

4 As giants may they run their race,
Exulting in Thy might;
As burning luminaries chase
The gloom of deepest night.

5 Thy ministers of righteousness,
Let them Thy power display;
And let their lustre still increase
Unto the perfect day.

Preach the gospel to every creature.

Mark xvi. 15.

1 YHis sovereign voice obey;

E messengers of Christ,

3

Arise, and follow where He leads,
And peace attend your way.

The Master whom you serve
Will needful strength bestow:

Depending on His promised aid,
With sacred courage go.

Mountains shall sink to plains,

And hell in vain oppose;

The cause is God's, and must prevail,

In spite of all His foes.

Go spread a Saviour's fame;
And tell His matchless grace
To the most guilty and depraved

Of Adam's numerous race.

We wish you, in His name,

The most divine success;

Assured that He who sends you forth,
Will your endeavours bless.

MORELL.

Be thou faithful unto death.-Rev. ii. 10.
ATHER of mercies, condescend

FAT

To hear our fervent prayer,
While this our brother we commend
To Thy paternal care.

2 Before him set an open door;
His various efforts bless;
On him Thy Holy Spirit pour,
And crown him with success.

3 Endow him with a heavenly mind;
Supply his every need;

Make him in spirit meek, resigned,
But bold in word and deed.

4 In every tempting, trying hour,
Uphold him by Thy grace;

And guard him by Thy mighty power,
Till he shall end his race.

5 Then, followed by a numerous train,
Gathered from heathen lands,

A crown of life may he obtain

From his Redeemer's hands.
