4 Ho! ye that pant for living streams,
And pine away and die;

Here you may quench your raging thirst
With springs that never dry.

5 Great God! the treasures of Thy love
Are everlasting mines ;

Deep as our helpless miseries are,
And boundless as our sins.

6 The happy gates of gospel grace
Stand open night and day;

Lord, we are come to seek supplies,
And drive our wants away.

Isa. lv. 1.

O! every one that thirsts, draw nigh;
Thus God invites the fallen race;

Mercy and free salvation buy,

Buy wine and milk and gospel grace.

2 Come to the living waters, come;
Sinners, obey your Maker's call;
Return, ye weary wanderers, home,
And find My grace is free for all.

8 See from the Rock a fountain rise;
For you in healing streams it rolls:
Money ye need not bring, nor price,
Ye labouring, burdened, sin-sick souls.

4 Nothing ye in exchange shall give;
Leave all you have and are behind;
Frankly the gift of God receive,
Pardon and peace in Jesus find.

come unto me

If any man thirst, let him
and drink.-John vii. 37.

1 THE Saviour calls; let every ear
Attend the heavenly sound.

Ye doubting souls, dismiss your fear;
Hope smiles reviving round.

2 For every thirsty, longing heart
Here streams of bounty flow;
And life and health and bliss impart
To banish mortal woe.

3 Ye sinners, come; 'tis mercy's voice;
The gracious call obey:
Mercy invites to heavenly joys;
And can you yet delay?

4 Dear Saviour, draw reluctant hearts;
To Thee let sinners fly,

And take the bliss Thy love imparts,
And drink, and never die.

THE

Is whispering, Sinner, come;

The Bride, the Church of Christ proclaims
To all His children,- Come.

[blocks in formation]

To all about him,-Come;

3

Let him that thirsts for righteousness,
To Christ, the fountain, come.

Yes! whosoever will,

O let him freely come,

And freely drink the stream of life;
'Tis Jesus bids him come.

4 Lo! Jesus, who invites,
Declares,-I quickly come;
Lord, even so! I wait Thy hour:
Jesus, my Saviour, come!

Return unto me.-Isa. xliv. 22.
ETURN, O wanderer, return,

ᎡᎬ

COLLYER.

And seek an injured Father's face;
Those warm desires that in thee burn
Were kindled by reclaiming grace.

2 Return, O wanderer, return,

And seek a Father's melting heart,
Whose pitying eyes thy grief discern,
Whose hand can heal thy inward smart.

3 Return, O wanderer, return,
He heard thy deep, repentant sigh;
He saw thy softened spirit mourn,
When no intruding ear was nigh.

4 Return, O wanderer, return,
Thy Saviour bids thy spirit live;
Go to His bleeding feet, and learn,
How freely Jesus can forgive.

5 Return, O wanderer, return,
And wipe away the falling tear;
"Tis God who says-No longer mourn;
'Tis Mercy's voice invites thee ncar.

No longer now an exile roam,

In guilt and misery. [Return, return.]

2 Return, O wanderer, to thy home,
'Tis Jesus calls for thee;

The Spirit and the Bride say, Come:
O now for refuge flee.

8 Return, O wanderer, to thy home, 'Tis madness to delay;

There are no pardons in the tomb,

Turn Thou us unto Thee.-Lam. v. 21.
YOME, O Thou all-victorious Lord,
Thy power to us make known;

Strike with the hammer of Thy word,
And break these hearts of stone.

2 Speak with the voice that wakes the dead,
And bids the sleeper rise;
And make each guilty conscience dread,
The death that never dies.

8 Convince us of our anbelief,
Our ruined state explain;

Fill every heart with sacred grief,
And penitential pain.

4 0 that we all might now begin
Our foolishness to mourn:
Might turn at once from every sin,
And to our Saviour turn.

5 Give us ourselves and Thee to know,
In this our gracious day:

Repentance unto life bestow,
And take our sins away.

I was alive without the law once.
Rom. vii. 9.

WATTS.

1 LORD, how secure my conscience was,

And felt no inward dread;

I was alive without the law,

And thought my sins were dead.

2 My hopes of heaven were firm and bright,
But since the precept came

With a convincing power and light,
I find how vile I am.

8 My guilt appeared but small before,
Till terribly I saw

How perfect, holy, just, and pure
Was Thine eternal law.

Then felt my soul the heavy load,
My sins revived again,

I had provoked a dreadful God,
And all my hopes were slain.
5 I'm like a helpless captive sold
Under the power of sin;
I cannot do the good I would,
Nor keep my conscience clean.
