THURSDAY EVENING.

It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, oh Most High; to shew forth thy loving kindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night. Ps. XCII. 1, 2.

ALMIGHTY AND ever-Living GOD, preserved by thy power and goodness, I once more bow down at thy footstool. Help me thankfully to acknowledge thy bounty for all those good things which thou so

freely bestowest upon me. I bless thee for thy preservation of me during the past day.. Oh, cause me to think of thy faithfulness every night, and make me to know the way wherein I should go. For Jesus Christ's sake, incline thine ear and hear me. Pardon all my sins, and enable me to forsake them. Let thy Holy Spirit be always present with me, for of myself I am not able to please thee. Give me a humble, a thankful, and an obedient heart. Make me kind and obliging to all around me, easy to be intreated, readily admonished, a dutiful child of God, and an heir through Christ of the kingdom of heaven. Oh Jesus, grant that I may so fervently and devoutly serve thee all the rest of my life upon earth, that hereafter, when thou shalt come in the clouds of heaven attended with thy holy angels to judge the quick

and dead, I may be numbered among thy good and faithful servants, and be admitted into thy kingdom of glory. I beseech thee, oh Lord, to bless all mankind. Prosper abundantly the ministers of thy holy word. Look with tender compassion on the poor and afflicted, and relieve them according to their necessities. FRIDAY MORNING.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

PROV. III. 5, 6.

Он THOU that makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice, fill my heart with joy and gratitude this morning, for surely I have cause to bless thee and to rejoice in thee. My God, in thee I live and move and have my being; thou gavest me life and breath and all things. Thou hast been graciously pleased to deliver me from the perils of darkness, and spared me to see the light of another day. Many calamities might have befallen me, but thou hast preserved me from all; accept my imperfect thanks,

and help me to thank and serve thee better. I desire now again to commit myself into thy hands. Direct me this day in all my affairs. Bless me in my employments and studies, and give me grace to do my duty in that state of life whereunto thou hast been pleased to call me. Oh God, forgive me all my sins, and help me every day to seek the knowledge of thy great salvation. Enable me to receive Christ Jesus with my whole heart, as the way, the truth, and the life; my Redeemer to atone my King to guide and rule. Grant that I may become more acquainted with the blessed gospel, may I love thy ways and ordinances with increasing fervor, hate sin with a more perfect hatred, and become more and more fit for thy eternal kingdom.
