be opened unto me.

Perfect,

oh Lord, that which concerneth me, and make me such, both in heart and life, that I may enjoy thy peace below, and be meet for the inheritance of thy heavenly glory above. Suffer me not to retain any thing in my heart which is offensive to thee; but should it be dear to me as a right eye, let me pluck it out and cast it from me. Comfort all who are in any way afflicted, and send them relief, according to the multitude of thy tender mercies. Extend thy protec

defend them from all dangers, and help me to grow up a comfort and a blessing to them. These and all other favors I ask in my Redeemer's name, and for his sake I beseech thee to hear me. Amen. Our Father, &c.

He will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee. ISAI. XXX. 19.

ALMIGHTY GOD, I thank thee that thou hast watched over me through the night, and that thou hast raised me up in health and safety. Continue to me thy gracious care through the day on which I am now entered. Give me repentance for all my past sins, lively faith in Jesus Christ the only Saviour from sin, and deep humility before thee. Make me feel sensible of thy presence, and help me seriously to consider that not only my words and actions, but even my thoughts are open before thee. Holy Spirit, descend upon me; direct and guide a weak and erring child. Preserve

me from the sins which most easily betray me. Help me to search out, and cast far from me every wrong disposition, every proud and unholy temper. May I be meek and lowly of heart, ready to forgive if any do me wrong, remembering how often I myself stand in need of pardon and forbearance at the hands of others, and especially at thy hand, oh great and holy God. Make me in all things pure, honest, just, and true. Oh, circumcise my heart to love the Lord my God; and may thy almighty Spirit so write the law of holiness upon my mind, that it may be my meat and drink to do thy will, that I may hate all iniquity and every false way, and resemble the blessed Jesus as my pattern, while I trust in his merits as my propitiation. Oh God, bless my employments and studies. In all I undertake I remember my own weakness, and

ask of thee that strength which alone can help me. Lord, guide and keep me, making me wise and faithful in all my duties, and blessed and prosperous in the event. Continue to me thy loving kindness and tender mercies, passing by my many sins and supplying all my wants. Send down, oh God, thy blessings, spiritual and temporal, upon my dear.

Give us all whatever thou seest necessary for us. Reward all who have done me good, pardon all who have done or wished me evil, and work in them and me those things which will render us acceptable in thy sight, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

TUESDAY EVENING.

Every one that asketh, receiveth; and he that seeketh, findeth; and to him that knocketh, it shall be opened.

MATT. VII. 8.

MOST GRACIOUS AND MERCIFUL GOD, by whose protecting care and kind providence I have been preserved and kept through the day past, I desire to kneel before thee, and thank thee for all thy loving kindness unto me. I confess, oh Lord, that I am weak and sinful, that I have in many things acted contrary to thy will, that I have neither loved thee, served thee, nor obeyed thee, as I ought to have done. Pardon, I beseech thee, oh God, for thy dear Son's sake, every wrong thought, every selfish feeling, all that I have said or done amiss. Create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me. Endue me with kindness and
