Draw nigh to God and he will draw nigh to you. JAM. iv. 8. ALMIGHTY GOD, preserved by thy power, I see the beginning of this day. Grant that I may not be unmindful of thy mercies, or unthankful for thy goodness. Oh heavenly Father, be my Guide and Preserver, for without thee I am insufficient of myself to please thee. Assist me by thy Holy Spirit to do thy will. Lord, undertake for me. Be light to my darkness, wisdom to my folly, and manifest thy strength in my weakness. Be gracious to me and make me to find that

it is indeed good for me to draw nigh to thee, and do thou draw nigh to me and bless me. Direct me, O God, in all my affairs. Bless my employments and studies; and preserve me from any pleasure or pursuit in which I could not look up to thee, and say, bless me in this also, oh my Father. Neither pray I for myself alone; look with thy heavenly favor on those who are assistant in the work of my instruction, and while they teach me that knowledge which befits my station, give them grace to watch with care over my religious education. Direct and prosper all their endeavours to train me up in thy fear and love, and so incline me to submit cheerfully and willingly to their instructions, that I may daily increase in some profitable knowledge of the things of God, and mercifully grant that none us may be lost in the day of the Lord Jesus. OH GOD, my Creator and Preserver, I draw near to thee in prayer and supplication, in the name of Jesus Christ. bless thee for the mercies of this day. Lord, it is not owing to my own wisdom, prudence, or watchfulness, but to thy care, protection, and gracious providence, that I still enjoy the blessings which continue to accompany me. Oh, let me not be ungrateful; let me not forget the hand that guides me and crowns me with mercy and loving kindness. Forgive me all the sins which I have this day committed. Thou, oh God, knowest them all; teach

me to know them also. I implore the grace of thy Holy Spirit to enable me to become better, and to amend all that is wrong in my thoughts, words, or actions.
