NOTICE.

The Hymns in this collection are arranged alphabetically throughout, under their several headings, and (with the exception of the Hymns for Morning and Evening, most of which are as suitable for Sundays as for week days, and two of those for Saturday Evening which are specially appropriate for Easter Even) the Special Hymns are not fitted for any other occasions than those to which they are allotted; a General Index of First Lines was, therefore, thought unnecessary.

Many of the General Hymns are suitable for Lent, Whitsuntide, Saints' Days, and other seasons.

CHURCH HYMNS.

Morning.

L. M.

LL praise to Thee, in light arrayed,

Who light Thy dwelling-place hast made;

A boundless ocean of bright beams

From Thy all-glorious Godhead streams.

2 The sun in his meridian height
Is very darkness in Thy sight;
Do Thou enlighten and inflame
My soul with love of Thy great Name.
3 Blest Jesu, Thou, on heaven intent,
Whole nights hast in devotion spent ;
But I, frail creature, soon am tired,
And all my zeal is soon expired.

4 Shine on me, Lord, new life impart,
Fresh ardour kindle in my heart;
One ray of Thy all-quickening light
Dispels the sloth and clouds of night.

5 Praise God, from whom all blessings flow ;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, angelic host;

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
