Q. 9. What is the third Inftruction from the Trinity?

A. That the Covenant of Grace conveys a rich Portion to Believers, in making over all three Perfons to them, Jer. xxxi. 33. But this fhall be the Covenant that I will make with the Houfe of Ifrael after thofe Days, faith the Lora, I will put my Law in their inward Parts, and write it in their Hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my People.

Q. 10. What is the fourth Inftruction from the Trinity? A That as it is the Duty of all the Saints to give diftinct Glory to the three Perfons in the Godhead; fo it will be a fpecial Part of their Bleffednefs in Heaven, to contemplate the diftinct Benefits received from them all, Rev. i. 5. And from Jefus Chrift, who is the faithful Witness, and the first begotten of the Dead, and the Prince of the Kings of the Earth; unto him that loved us, and washed us from our Sins in his own Blood.

Of God's Decrees.

Quek. 7. WHAT are the Decrees of God?

A. The Decrees of God are his eternal Purpofe, according to the Counfel of his Will, whereby for his own Glory he hath fore-ordained whatsoever comes to país. Q. What Things are decreed of God?

A. All Things whatfoever come to pafs, even the fmalle, Eph. i. 11. In whom alfo we have obtained an Inheritance, ber ing predeftinated according to the Purpose of him who worketh all Things after the Counsel of his own Will.

Q. What is the End of God's Decrees?

A. The Glory of his own Name, Eph. i. 11, 12. Who worketh all Things according to the Counsel of his own Will, that we should be to the Praife of his Glory who first trufted in Chrift.

Q. 3. But there are fome evil Things done in the World, do they fall under God's Decree?

A. Though God doth neither approve them, nor neceffitate Men to commit them, yet he doth permit and fuffer them to be done, and will turn them to his own Glory,

A. That they are most wife Acts of God laid in the Depth of Wisdom and Counsel, Rom. xi. 33. O the Depth of the Riches both of the Wifdum and Knowledge of God! borv unfearchable are his Judgments, and his Ways past finding out!

Q6. What is the Second Property of God's Decrees? A. The Decrees of God are moft free, all flowing from the meer Pleasure of his Will, Rom. ix. 18. Therefore hath Le Mercy on whom he will have Mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.

A. They are moft firm and ftable, 2 Tim. ii. 19. Nevertheless the Foundation of God ftandeth fure, having this Seal, the Lord knoweth them that are his, Zech. vi, 1.

Q. 8. What is the Fourth Property of God's Decrees ? A. They are eternal, and before all Time, Acts xv. 18. Known unto God are all his Works, from the Beginning of the World.

A. They are moft pure, and altogether unfpotted of Sin, 1 John i. 5. This is the Meffage which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, That God is Light, and in him is no Darkness at all.

Of the Creation.

HAT are the Works of Creation ?

A. The Work of Creation is, God's making all Things of nothing, by the Word of his Power, in the Space of Six Days, and all very good.

Q. What is it to create?

A. To create, is to give a Being to that which had no Being; or to bring fomething out of nothing, Heb. xi. 3. Through Faith we understand that the Worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that Things which are feen, were not made of Things that do appear.

Q. 2. How did God create the World?

A. By his infinite Power, executed in his Word of Command, Psalm xxxiii. 6. 9. By the Word of the Lord were the Heavens made, and all the Hoft of them by the Breath of his Mouth; for he fpake, and it was done; he commanded, and it fteod faft.

Q3. What Attributes of God fhine forth in the Creation? A. The Wisdom of God fhines forth gloriously, not only in their Formation, but Dependence one upon another, Pfalm civ. 24. O Lord, how manifold are thy Works! in Wisdom haft thou made them all; the Earth is full of thy Riches. D. 3

Q4. What may we learn from the Creation?

A. That God perfectly knows all that is in the Creature, be it never fo fecret, Pfalm xciv. 8, 9. Understand, O ye bratih among the People; and ye Fools, when will ye be wije? He that planted the Ear, fhall he not hear? he that formed the Eye, fall he not fee?

Q5. What's the Second Inftruction from the Creation? A. That God is the rightful Owner of us all, and may do what he will with us, Rom. ix. 20. Nay, but ○ Man, who art thou that repliest against God! Shall the Thing formed Jay to him that formed it, why haft thon made me thus? Hath not the Potter Power over the Clay, of the fame Lump to make one Veffel to Honour, and another to Diftenour?

Q. 6. What is the Third Inftruction from the Creation? A. That God only is the proper Obje&t of Worship, Jer. x. 11. Thus fhall be fay unto them, The Gods that have not made the Heavens and the Earth, even they shall perish from the Earth, and from under thefe Heavens.

Q. 7. What is the Fourth Inftruction from hence?

A. That Chriftians fhould not fear the Power of Creatures, fince they derive their Being and Power from God, Ha. liv. 16, 17. Behold I have created the Smith that bloweth the Coals in the Fire, that bringeth forth an Infirument for his Work; and I have created the Wafter to destroy, no Weapon that is formed against thee all profper.

Q8. What is the Fifth Inftruction hence?

A. That Atheism is a Sin against natural Light and Reafon, Rom. i. 20. For the invisible Things of him from the Creation of the World are clearly feen, being understood by the Things that are made, even his eternal Power and Godhead; fo that they are without Excufe.

Q9. What is the Sixth Inftruction hence?

A. That God's Glory is the End of all Being, Col. i. 16. For by him were all Things created, that are in Heaven, and that are in Earth, visible and invisible, whether they be Thrones or Dominions, or Principalities, or Powers, all Things were created by him and for him.

Q. 10. What is the Seventh Inftruction hence?

A. That there is an unnatural Rebellion in Sin, fmiting at him that made and preserves our Being, lfa. i. 2. I have nourished

nourished and brought up Children, and they have rebelled against me.

A. That God can in a Moment revive and fave the Church, when at the lowest Ebb, Ifa. lxv. 18. create Jerufalem a Rejoicing, and her People a Joy. Q. 12. What is the last Instruction from hence?

A. That it is eafy with God to revive a dejected Soul, Ifa. lvii. 19. I create the Fruit of the Lips; Peace Peace to him that is far off, and to him that is uear, faith the Lord, I will heal him. Of Man's Creation.

OW did God create Man ?

God created Man Male and Female, after his own Image, in Knowledge, Righteoufnefs, and Holinefs, with Dominion over the Creatures.

Q. 1. How did God create Man?

A. God created Man in his own Image, Gen. i. 27. So Gad created Man in his own Image, in the Image of God created be him, Male and Female created he them.

Q. 2. What is meant by the Image of God?

A. Not a Refemblance of God in any bodily Shape or Figure, but in Holiness, Eph. iv. 24. And that ye put on that new Man, which after God is created in Righteousness and true Holinefs.

Q. 3. In what Graces did Man refemble God?

A. In fuch a Knowledge of God himself, and the Creatures, which made him happy, Col. iii. 10. And have put on the new Man, which is renewed in Knowledge, after the Image of him that created him.

Q4. In what other Graces did this Image confift?

A. In Righteoufnefs as well as Holinefs, Eph. iv. 24. And that ye put on that new Man, which after God is created in Righteoufnejs and true Holiness.

2.5. What is the First Inference from hence?

A. The deplorable Mifery of the Fall, Rom. v. 12. Wherefore as by one Man Sin entered into the World, and Death by Sin, and fo Death paffed upon all Men, for that all have finned.
