The last of this family who had possession of Dealbhna-mor was Ceallach O'Finnallain, who is mentioned in the Annals of the Four Masters at the year 1174. They were dispossessed soon after by Sir Hugh de Lacy, who granted their territory to Gilbert Nugent, ancestor of the Marquis of Westmeath, and the family have been for many centuries in obscurity and poverty.
