IS not from any Opinion I have of the Value of my own Performances, nor from the Fondneẞ of appearing in Print having fo lately fuffered for it, that I have confented to this Publication. But 'tis owing to a certain Printer, who had forg'd a furreptitious Collection of feveral Tracts; in which he had the Face to put Several Things which I had no Hand in, and vilely to difmember and mangle those I had; giving the Whole a Title of a Collection of my Writings; and his Publisher, of the fame Kidney, to put my Name to it, and all this to get a Penny, at the price of expofing me and the Book in a most uncivil, as well as difboneft manner. |
