blessed will, not only from spiritual, but from temporal evil. Keep us ever by thy watchful Providence, both outwardly in our bodies, and inwardly in our souls; that Thou, being in all cases our Ruler and Guide, we may so pass through things temporal, as finally to lose not the things eternal.

Hear us, O Lord our Governor, from Heaven thy dwelling place; and when Thou hearest, have regard to our petitions. They are offered up to Thee in the fullest confidence that thy Goodness will dispose, and thy Power enable Thee to grant whatever thy Wisdom seest to be convenient for us, and conducive to our final happiness." Amen.

A Prayer for the worthy receiving of the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper, to be said at Home any time before receiving.

O LORD, the only begotten Son Jesu Christ, who of thine infinite mercy, hast given thy most precious Body and Blood to be my spiritual food and sustenance, to strengthen and refresh my soul, that I may be enabled to live the life of grace here, and the life of glory hereafter; evermore give me this bread : and grant that I may be a worthy partaker of that holy mystery. I am desirous to come to thy table, O merciful Lord, [this day, or on Sunday next] to testify my sense of thy love in dying for me, my stedfastness in the communion of thy Church, and my charity to all men. I beseech thee so to prepare my heart for communicating, and so to clothe me with the wedding garment of true holiness and righteousness, that I may come holy and clean to such a heavenly feast. Give me a lively faith,

a deep humility, sincere gratitude, universal charity, hearty repentance, and firm resolutions of better obedience hereafter.-O Lamb of God, that takest away the sins of the world, have mercy upon me; pardon and deliver me from all my sins; confirm and strengthen me in all goodness, and finally, bring me to everlasting life and happiness. Let thy good Spirit excite in my mind, all those emotions of zeal and devotion, of love and desire, of joy and delight, of praise and thanksgiving, which become the solemn remembrance of a crucified Saviour. Amen. Most gracious Lord, so be it, I beseech thee. Amen.

A short Prayer for Morning and Evening, extracted and altered from Bishop Wilson's Prayers, to be used by an Individual.

MORNING PRAYER.

WHAT shall I render unto the Lord, for his mercies renewed unto me every morning? I will offer the sacrifice of

thanksgiving, and pay my vows unto the Most High. Do thou, O God, be pleased to accept my most hearty thanks for my preservation and refreshment, and for all the blessings of the night past. Gracious Father, inspire my soul with such a sense of this thy goodness, and of my entire dependence upon thee, for life and health, for prosperity and comfort, that it may be my delight, as it is my duty and interest, to serve and obey thee. And that I may do this with a quiet mind, forgive me, for Christ's sake, the sins of which my conscience is afraid, and withhold the judgments which I have justly deserved. Give me grace, that I may continue in thy fear all the day long; that I may live and act as having thee, O God, the constant witness of my conduct; and that it may be the purpose and resolution of my soul never to offend thee wilfully.

Shew me the way that I should walk in, and grant me the continual assistance

of thy Holy Spirit, that I may fulfil my duty in that state of life in which thy Providence has placed me.

Mercifully bestow upon me a due supply of those things which are needful for the body; and give me a contented mind. Hear and answer these my imperfect petitions for the sake of thy dear Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who has taught me to say, Our Father, &c.

EVENING PRAYER.

THAT it hath pleased thee, O God, to add another day to the years of my life, and to protect me from the dangers to which I am exposed;-for these, and for all thy mercies bestowed upon me, I bless thy good and gracious Providence. Most earnestly do I beseech thee to pardon my offences of the day past, and to grant that they may never rise up in judgment against me. And forasmuch
