fubfcribed accordingly; and fome of the proprietors of such part of the Jaid annuities as remain unfubfcribed, may be defirous that the time for fuch fubfcription fhould be enlarged, which will also be of advantage to the publick; be it enacted by the authority aforefaid, That the kept open at governor and company of the bank of England, fhall cause such the bank for books as have been prepared according to the directions of the receiving fub- said act, for receiving the fubfcription of the proprietors of the fcriptions to 5 faid annuities into the faid joint ftock of annuities, to be kept April 1753. open at the bank of England for that purpose, in fuch manner as by the faid act is directed, to the fifth day of April one thoufand seven hundred and fifty three inclufive, being the time limited by the faid act for the fubfcription of other annuities after the rate of three pounds ten fhillings per centum per annum; and fuch proprietors of the faid annuities, after the rate of three pounds per centum per annum, as have not already subscribed the fame into the faid joint ftock of annuities, their respective attornies, representatives or affigns, and all perfons authorized by the faid act to fubfcribe for them before the faid fifth day of January one thoufand feven hundred and fifty three, fhall have power to make fuch fubfcription without fee or charge at any time before the said fifth day of April one thousand seven hundred and fifty three; and fuch fubfcription fhall be as valid and effectual to all intents and purposes, as if the fame had been made before the said fifth day of January one thousand seven hundred and fifty three.

CAP. II.

An act to amend an act made in the eighth year of the reign of his late majesty King George the First, intituled, An act for the better recovery of the penalties inflicted upon perfons who destroy the game, by enlarging the time within which fuits and actions are to be brought by force of the faid act.

THEREAS by an act of parliament made in the eighth year W of the reign of his late majesty King George, intituled, An act for the better recovery of the penalties inflicted upon perfons who deftroy the game, it is provided, That all fuits and actions to be brought by force of the faid act, shall be brought before the end of the next term after the offence committed: and whereas the time allowed by the faid act for the bringing of fuch fuits and actions has been found very inconvenient, and in many cafes is not fuffuient for the commencing of profecutions against offenders, whereby the intent of the faid act hath been in fome degree defeated; be it therefore enacted by the King's most excellent majesty, by and with the advice and confent of the lords fpiritual and temporal and commons in this prefent parliament affembled, and by the authority of the fame, That all fuits and actions to be brought Suits for pecu- by virtue of the faid act, for the recovery of any pecuniary peniary penal nalty or fum of money for offences, which after the twenty fifth day of March one thousand seven hundred and fifty three fhall

OST gracious fovereign, whereas by an act made in the eigh- 18 Geo. 2. c. 5. teenth year of your Majesty's reign, (intituled, An act for granting and continuing the duties upon falt, and upon red and white herrings, for the further term of fix years; and for declaring that the duties on falt, which arife and are payable in that part of Great Britain called Scotland, shall be subject to the fame charges thereon, as the fame duties were liable to by the act of the fifth year of the reign of his late majefty King George the First) it was enacted, That from and after the determination of the 14 Geo. 2. term of feven years, mentioned in an act of the fourteenth year of your Majefty's reign, (intituled, An act for granting and continuing the duties upon falt, and upon red and white herrings, for the further term of feven years; and for allowing rock falt to be used in making falt froin fea water at the falt works at Neath in the county of Glarmorgan) the feveral and respective rates and duties upon falt, and upon red and white herrings, which by the faid act of the fourteenth year of your Majesty's reign were continued, Should be further continued for and during the space of fix years; and that the fame fhould be managed, raised, levied, collected, fecured and paid in fuch manner and form, and by and under fuch powers, authorities, penalties, forfeitures, provisions, restrictions and regulations for managing, raising, levying, collecting, fecuring and paying the fame, and with fuch allowances for prompt payment, and for waste of falt carried coaftwife, or to Ireland, and for fish, beef and pork exported to parts beyond the feas, and with fuch drawbacks or debentures on account of duties paid or fecured to be paid for falt exported to parts beyond the feas, as were particularly mentioned in the acts recited in the faid act of the eighteenth year of your Majefty's reign; and that the faid acts therein recited, and every article, rule, claufe, matter and thing therein contained, or thereby referred unto, and then being in force, and not otherwife altered by that act, fhould be and continue in full force and effect, for and during the said further term of fix years, as fully and amply to all intents and purposes, as if the fame had been particularly recited, expressed and enacted, in the body of that act; with a provifo therein contained, That the duties on falt, arifing and payable in that part of Great Britain called Scotland, should be fubject to the fame or the like char- 5 Geo.1.c. 20. ges thereon, in the fame manner as the fame duties were liable or subject to by an act made in the fifth year of his late majesty King George the First, (intituled, An act for fettling certain yearly funds payable out of the revenue of Scotland, to fatisfy publick debts in Scotland, and other ufes mentioned in the treaty of union; and to discharge the equivalents claimed on behalf of Scotland in the

terms of the fame treaty; and for obviating all future disputes, charges, and expences concerning thofe equivalents:) and whereas it was by the faid act made in the eighteenth year of your Majesty's reign further enacted, That the money which Jhould from time to time arife at the receipt of the exchequer, of or for the rates or duties by the faid act continued, should from time to time, as the fame should arise at the faid receipt (after all the orders of loan made forth by and in pursuance of the faid act made in the fourteenth year of your Majesty's reign, together with all the intereft due thereupon, should be fully fatisfied and difcharged, or money fufficient fhould be referved for that purpose) be issued and applied at the said receipt for or towards the paying off and difcharging all and every the principal fums contained in the orders of loan by the faid aft of the eighteenth year of your Majesty's reign, directed to be made forth, and for fatisfying the intereft thereof, in fuch courfe, manner and form as are in the faid act prescribed and appointed for that purpose, until all the principal and interest payable upon fuch orders fhould be fully fatisfied, or fufficient money should be referved in the exchequer for the full payment and fatisfaction of the fame, as in the faid act is directed, and for no other ufe, intent or purpose whatfoever; and by the faid act it was provided, That in cafe there fhould be any furplus or remainder of the monies arifing by the faid rates and duties thereby continued, after all the orders by the faid act of the eighteenth year of your Majesty's reign, directed to be made forth, and the intereft thereof fhould be fully fatisfied and difcharged, or money fufficient should be referved for that purpose, fuch furplus or remainder of the faid rates and duties fhould from time to time be referved for the dif pofition of parliament, and should not be issued but by authority of parliament, and as fhould be directed by any future act or acts of parliament in that behalf, as by the faid act, relation being thereunto bad, may more fully appear and whereas all the orders of loan made forth in pursuance of the faid act of the fourteenth year of your Majesty's reign, together with all the intereft due thereupon, have been fully Satisfied and difcharged: and whereas the principal fum of one million bath, in pursuance of the faid act of the eighteenth year of your Majesty's reign, been advanced and paid on the credit of the said rates and duties; and orders of loan have been made forth to the Several contributors, for the repayment thereof, with intereft after the rate of three pounds ten fillings per centum per annum : and whereas part of the faid orders of loan fo made forth in pursuance of the last mentioned act, together with all the intereft due thereupon, hath been already discharged and fatisfied, and the refidue thereof may, according to the courfe in the faid act prefcribed, be paid off and difcharged before the expiration of the term of fix years, for which the faid rates and duties were by the faid act of the eighteenth year of your Majefty's reign further granted and continued: now we your Majesty's moft dutiful and loyal fubjects, the commons of Great Britain in parliament affembled, gratefully acknowledging your Majesty's tender care of the welfare of your people, in recommending to us from your throne, the continuance of our attention to the reduction of the national debt, the improvement of the publick revenue, and augmenting the finking fund, and being defrous to make further provifion for thofe purposes; to the end

that the nation may thereby acquire additional credit, power and fecurity, have unanimously refolved to give and grant to your Majefty, your heirs and fucceffors for ever, the faid rates and duties upon falt, and upon red and white herrings, by the faid last mentioned act of the eighteenth year of your Majefty's reign, continued for the term of fix years, fubject nevertheless to be redeemed by parliament: and do therefore moft humbly befeech your Majesty that it may be enacted; and be it enacted The duties by the King's most excellent majefty, by and with the advice upon falt, and confent of the lords fpiritual and temporal and commons in and red and this prefent parliament affembled, and by the authority of the rings, made fame, That from and after the expiration of the term of fix years, perpetual; for which the said rates and duties were continued by the said act of the eighteenth year of his Majefty's reign, the several and refpective rates and duties upon falt, and upon red and white fubject to the herrings, fo by the said last-mentioned act continued, fhall be rules, &c. of and are hereby granted and made payable unto his Majefty, his 18 Geo. 2, C, 51 heirs and fucceffors for ever, fubject nevertheless to redemption. by parliament; and that the fame fhall be managed, raised, levied, collected, fecured and paid, in fuch manner and form, and by and under fuch powers, authorities, penalties, forfeitures, provifions, restrictions and regulations, for managing, raifing, levying, collecting, fecuring and paying the fame, and with fuch allowances for prompt payment, and for waste on falt carried coaftwife, or to Ireland, and for fifh, beef and pork exported to parts beyond the feas, and with fuch other allowances, and with fuch drawbacks or debentures, on account of duties paid or fecured to be paid, for falt exported to parts beyond the feas, as are particularly mentioned in the acts recited in the said act of the eighteenth year of his Majefty's reign, or in any other act now in force, relating to the faid feveral rates and duties; and that so much of the faid act, and of the acts therein recited, and of every other act as is now in force, and as relates to the managing, raifing, levying, collecting, fecuring and paying of the faid rates and duties, or the faid allowances, drawbacks and debentures, shall be and remain in full force and effect for ever, as fully and amply to all intents and purposes as if the fame were particularly recited, expreffed and enacted in the body of

II. III. And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid,

WHEREAS it is neceffary that fome provision be made by

parliament, for obliging hips and perfons coming from places infected with or frequently subject to the plague, to perform quarentine in fuch manner as hath been or shall be ordered by his Majesty, his beirs or fucceffors; and for punishing offenders therein in a more expeditious manner than can be done by the ordinary methods of law; be it enacted by the King's moft excellent majefty, by and with the advice and confent of the lords spiritual and temporal and commons in parliament affembled, and by the authority of the perfons and fame, That all ships and veffels arriving, and all perfons, goods goods coming and merchandizes whatfoever, coming or imported into any from places from whence port or place within Great Britain or Ireland, or the isles of the plague Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney, Sark or Man, from any place from whence his Majefty, his heirs or fucceffors, by and with the brought, fub- advice of his or their privy council fhall judge it probable that the infection may be brought, fhall be obliged to make their quarentine in fuch place and places, for fuch time and in fuch. fuch places as manner, as hath been or fhall, from time to time, be directed fhall be apby his Majesty, his heirs or fucceffors, by his or their order or orders made in his or their privy council, and notified by proclamation, or published in the London Gazette; and that until fuch fhips, veffels, perfons, goods and merchandizes fhall have
