unto Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, unto him be glory by Christ Jesus, throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

THE LORD'S PRAYER.

Our Father which art in heaven; hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil: for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever. Amen.

BENEDICTION.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with us all. Amen.

THE END.

SIR H. MONCREIFF'S SERMONS.

Just Published, in 8vo. price 10s. 6d. boards,

SERMONS, Volume III. by the late Sir HENRY MONCREIFF WELLWOOD, BART. D. D. and F.R.S., Edinburgh, and formerly one of the Ministers of St. Cuthbert's, Edinburgh.

"The present volume is more miscellaneous in its contents, and altogether furnishes a more favourable specimen of the author's pulpit eloquence. It supports the reputation which Sir Henry Moncreiff had already earned as an elegant writer, and a shrewd, well-informed, and orthodox divine. We must not forget to mention that the greater number of the discourses contained in this volume were selected from Sir Henry's papers, and a few of them printed under the revisal of the late Dr. A. Thomson, and that there is a short, modest, and elegant Preface, by the Author's distinguished son, Lord Moncreiff.”—Edinburgh Literary Journal.

DR. THOMSON'S POSTHUMOUS SERMONS. Lately Published, in 8vo. price 12s. with a highly finished Portrait of the Author.

SERMONS and SACRAMENTAL EXHORTATIONS. By the late ANDREW THOMSON, D.D. Minister of St. George's Church, Edinburgh.

"This volume, which we must regard as the capital surmounting the noble column erected by the talents and perseverance of its author, we earnestly recommend to the perusal of our readers. They will find in it the same sound sense, the same acquaintance with Scripture,—the same urgent appeals to the conscience and addresses to the heart,-the same able and eloquent expositions of the terrors of the law, and of the love and mercy set forth in the gospel,-the same proofs of a truly regenerated and renewed spirit, and the same unanswered and unanswerable reasonings that are to be met with in his other writings. Prefixed to the volume there is a Memoir of the Author, extending to upwards of fifty pages, which bears marks of careful and impartial preparation."-Presbyterian Review,

"This volume is, as might be expected from the high name of the author, the most important work that has been published on the subject of the Row Heresy. We are not sorry that a man of real talent like Dr. Thomson should take up the matter in hand, and put an end at once to this petty warfare. To say that these sermons contain a satisfactory refutation of the doctrine of Universal Pardon, is saying very little; one-third of the texts adduced, and one-tenth part of the reasoning, would have been sufficient for this purpose; what we principally admire in them is the clearness, unhampered with verbiage and unnecessary ornament, with which the author pursues his argument."-Edinburgh Literary Journal.

In one volume 8vo. Price 10s. 6d. Second Edition,
SERMONS ON VARIOUS SUBJECTS.

By the late ANDREW THOMSON, D.D.

"To the volume before us we must assign a very high place, both on account of the views of Divine truth it uniformly advocates, and the very able and enlightened manner in which it illustrates and enforces those views. The subjects are evidently selected with a view to general usefulness, and are handled with great earnestness."-Evangelical Magazine, May 1829.

LECTURES

ON SELECT PORTIONS OF THE PSALMS.

By the late ANDREW THOMSON, D.D.

"These Lectures or Sermons, we have great pleasure in saying, are, in all respects, that kind of discourses which we think best fitted to convey just views and saving impressions of our holy religion. The subject of discourse forms always an entire paragraph of the divine word. No part of the text is ever passed over with neglect in the Exposition, which is always Scriptural, and clear and short; and the most pointed and appropriate application of every doctrine thus established is not reserved, in the ancient and formal manner, for the close of the discourse, but made in the course of their discussion, and at every turn, as the preacher proceeds in his address. Public Teachers will find in these Lectures a mode of exposition which, in our opinion, they may consult with great advantage. To private Christians we most cordially recommend them, as fitted to be eminently useful to persons of every rank, character and condition."-Edinburgh Theological Magazine, Sept. 1826.

SERMONS ON PRACTICAL SUBJECTS.

BY DAVID WELSH, D.D.

Professor of Divinity and Church History in the University of Edinburgh. "We have seldom perused a volume of Discourses in every respect so excellent as this. The subjects of which they treat are of vital importance to the belief and obedience of the reader. Characterised by profound thought, luminous arrangement, and philosophical precision, they are fitted to instruct the most intelligent and cultivated classes, whilst they possess the rare but invaluable charm of perfect simplicity in arrangement and style. Glasgow Courier.

"The aim of the author will at once be seen, namely, to place the truth clearly and luminously before the mind of the reader, and to bring it home to his conscience in all the power of a faithful, minute, and affectionate practical application. This we hold to be the essence of good sermon writing; and we say with the most unlimited confidence, that our readers will find it in the sermons of Dr. Welsh. The Discourses are well adapted for family reading they will gratify the most refined taste, and will be found level to every capacity."-Scottish Guardian.

Just published, in 8vo. price 10s, 6d. boards,

SERMONS ON PRACTICAL SUBJECTS. By the Rev. JAMES BREWSTER, Minister of Craig, Author of "Lectures on Christ's Sermon on the Mount," and "Testimonies of Distinguished Laymen to the Truths of Religion."

"This is an excellent volume of Sermons. Plain, unpretending, and evangelical, they are such as we like to meet with, and such as will prove eminently useful to those for whose especial edification they are intended." Presbyterian Review, January 1834.

"It is just the style in which sermons ought always to be composed,— easy without negligence, grave without formality, and pure without any marks of elaboration."-Christian Instructor, New Series, November 1833. "We cordially bid Mr. Brewster farewell for the present, and trust that his work will soon obtain a circulation so extensive, as to render a second edition speedily necessary."-Presbyterian Magazine, December 1833.

In royal 18mo. price 3s. 6d. Fourth Edition, enlarged, THE BOOKS OF THE OLD AND NEW TESTAMENTS proved to be Canonical, and their verbal Inspiration maintained and established; with an Account of the Introduction and Character of the Apocrypha. BY ROBERT HALDANE, Esq.

"The number of editions through which this volume has already passed, indicates sufficiently the estimation in which it is held by the public. The Author is right when he states, that the subject is one of the very highest importance, and perhaps he is right also in thinking, that the exigencies of the times call for such a publication. Upon the whole, if we may venture to judge from our own experience, we promise our readers much gratification from the perusal of this volume. It is a well written book, on a most important subject."-Presbyterian Review, No. 5.
