All na ture joins to teach Thy praise, And bid my soul a - dore.

2 Where'er I turn my gazing eyes,
Thy radiant footsteps shine;
Ten thousand pleasing wonders rise,
And speak their source divine.

3 All-bounteous Lord! Thy grace impart; Oh! teach me to improve

Thy gifts, with ever-grateful heart,
And crown them with Thy love.

Yes, I will bless Thee, 0 my God! Through all my mortal days,

My Saviour! my almighty Friend!

When I begin Thy praise,

Where will the growing numbers end,— The numbers of Thy grace?

2 Thou art my everlasting trust;
Thy goodness I adore;

And, since I knew Thy graces first,
I speak Thy glories more.

3 My feet shall travel all the length
Of the celestial road;

And march, with courage, in Thy strength,
To see my Father God.

4 When I am filled with sore distress
For some surprising sin,
I'll plead Thy perfect righteousness,
And mention none but Thine.

5 How will my lips rejoice to tell
The vict'ries of my King!

My soul, redeemed from sin and hell,
Shall Thy salvation sing.

Isaac Watts, 1719.

SING to the Lord Jehovah's name,
And in His strength rejoice;
When His salvation is our theme,
Exalted be our voice.

2 With thanks, approach His awful sight And psalms of honor sing;

The Lord's a God of boundless might,—
The whole creation's King.

3 Come, and with humble souls adore;
Come, kneel before His face:
Oh! may the creatures of His power
Be children of His grace!

4 Now is the time;-He bends His ear, And waits for your request;

Come, lest He rouse His wrath, and swear, "Ye shall not see my rest." Isaac Watts, 1719.

119

AWAKE, my soul! to sound His praise, Awake, my harp! to sing;

Join, all my powers! the song to raise, And morning incense bring.

2 Among the people of His care,

Glad songs of praise will I prepare,
And through the nations round,

And there His name resound.

3 Be Thou exalted, O my God!
Above the starry train;
Diffuse Thy heavenly grace abroad,
And teach the world Thy reign.
4 So shall Thy chosen sons rejoice,
And throng Thy courts above;
While sinners hear Thy pard'ning voice,
And taste redeeming love.

Joel Barlow, 1785.
