Stand and say

In the Name of the FATHER, and of the SON, and of the HOLY GHOST.

Amen.

Kneel and say reverently—

O GOD, help me to remember whatever I have done amiss this day.

Then try and think if you have been disobedient, angry, rude, deceitful, selfish, unkind, or anything else you have done that is wrong, and confess each sin to GOD, and say

O my GOD, I am truly sorry, and desire not to offend Thee any more. Forgive me all my sins for JESUS CHRIST's sake. Amen.

O Almighty GOD, I commend unto Thy loving care and protection all for whom I ought to pray, my dear (name them). May Thy holy angels watch over us, and may we awake in the morning refreshed, and thankful to Thee for all Thy great goodness, through JESUS CHRIST our LORD. Amen.

Our FATHER, &c.

The grace of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, &c.

Another form of Morning Prayer.

As soon as you are awake, say—

Glory be to the FATHER, and to the SON, and to the HOLY GHOST. Amen.

When you are dressed, say standing

"I laid me down and slept, and rose up again, for the LORD sustained me. The LORD'S name be praised from the rising of the sun up unto the going down of the same.

Kneel down and recollect who you are, and who Almighty GOD is, and what you are going to do (to confess, to ask blessings, and to praise GOD), and how you should do it, humbly, reverently, earnestly. Then say—

LORD, have mercy upon me,
CHRIST, have mercy upon me,
LORD, have mercy upon me.

Our FATHER.

(The Apostle's Creed may here be said.) O Almighty GOD, I praise Thee, and I thank Thee for having kept me during the night; keep me also during this day from all sin and harm. Grant that I may fear to offend Thee. Make me honest, pure, and careful to speak the truth. Teach me to honour my parents, and all whom Thou hast set over me. Bless them, and all I ought to love. And as Thou wert pleased to receive me and make me Thy child at my baptism, so guide me, I pray Thee, by Thy Holy Spirit, that I may be

indeed Thy child in all things according to Thy will; through JESUS CHRIST our LORD, Amen.

The grace of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, and the love of GOD, and the fellowship of the HOLY GHOST, be with us all evermore. Amen.

And now, O LORD CHRIST, I firmly purpose to keep from sin, especially the sin of (here mention your besetting sin) into which I have so often fallen; and I most earnestly desire to be like Thee, meek, lowly, pure, patient, and loving. Help me, for Thy mercy's sake. Amen.

Another form of Ebening Prayers.

Stand and say—

In the Name of the FATHER, &c.

Kneel down and say—

O LORD JESU, I beseech Thee, open my eyes that I may see wherein I have this day

offended Thee.

Then ask yourself the following questions of self-examination.

Did I think of GOD when I awoke this morning, and have I remembered His nearness to me throughout the day?

Did I say my prayers thoughtfully and reverently?

Have I been dutiful to my parents and submissive to those placed over me?

Have I been kind and unselfish to my brothers and sisters and companions?

Have I been rude, angry, passionate, or sulky?

Have I had wrong thoughts, or spoken wrong words, or done anything I should not like my parents to know?

Then say

O Saviour of the world, Who by Thy Cross and precious blood hast redeemed me, save me and forgive me all my sins of this day past; and keep me from all sin for the time to come, for Thy mercies' sake. Amen.

"And now, LORD, what is my hope,
Truly my hope is even in Thee.

LORD, have mercy upon me,
CHRIST have mercy upon me,
LORD, have mercy upon me

Our FATHER, &c.

Look down, I beseech Thee, O LORD, upon this dwelling. Keep it from all evil. Let Thy holy angels dwell in it to preserve us in peace, and let Thy blessing be upon us for ever; through our LORD JESUS CHRIST. Amen.

GOD bless all for whom I ought to pray (name them) this night and for evermore. Amen.

O most merciful GOD, I thank Thee for all the blessings which this day and through my whole life Thou hast bestowed upon me, a sinner. Praise and glory be to Thee from me,

Praise GOD, from Whom all blessings flow, Praise Him, all creatures here below, Praise Him above, Angelic host,

I will lay me down in peace, and take my rest, for it is Thou, LORD, only who makest me dwell in safety.

Prayers before and after Service.

Prayer to be said by all the children together when they have taken their places in Church :

O LORD, we are now come into Thy House to worship Thee, and to be instructed in Thy Holy Word. Do Thou in all things direct and rule our hearts, that we may be reverent, attentive, and devout; and profit by what we shall be taught; through JESUS CHRIST, our LORD. Amen.

Prayer to be said silently when the Clergy and Choir have come into Church :

Let Thy merciful ears, O LORD, be open to the prayers of Thy minister, that so, by Thy gracious and ready help, he may rightly in struct us in Thy Holy Word, and in the end attain unto everlasting salvation, through JESUS CHRIST our LORD. Amen.
