PREFACE. I AM aware that these Letters will add nothing to the capital of thought already circulating in the educational world; yet when I remember how anxiously I myself sought for such details as are here given, I cannot but hope that this record of my observations upon Hofwyl will not be valueless to other Parents under similar circumstances. Though I have not attempted to establish any theory, some reflections are naturally interwoven with my narrative; and if the reader should have seen the same ideas better expressed elsewhere, I shall be satisfied with having recalled to his mind an authority superior to my own.
