GEORGE MOSTYN, BARON VAUX, of Harrowden, co. Northampton, in whose favour Her Majesty was pleased to terminate the abeyance of this barony, was summoned to parliament by writ dated 13 March 1838; born 7 March 1804; married, July 1828, Caroline, da. of Arthur Vansittart, of Shottesbrooke House, co. Berks, esq., and has issue, -GEORGE-CHARLES, 6. 3 April 1830.

Sir NICHOLAS VAUX, of Harrowden, (son of William Vaux, of the same place, who fell at Tewkesbury, fighting on the side of king Henry VI.,) was summoned to parliament, 15 Henry VIII., (1524,) and died shortly after, leaving issue by his second wife, Anne, da. of sir Thomas Green, of Green's Norton, co. Northampton, knt., a son and successor,

THOMAS, 2d baron Vaux, who sat in parliament 22 H. VIII., 1531; he m. Elizabeth, da. and h. of sir Thomas Cheney, of Irtlingburgh, co. Northampton, knt., and had issue, WILLIAM, 3d baron Vaux, who was summoned to parliament 4th and 5th Ph. and Mary (1556 and 1557); he m., 1st, Elizabeth, da. of John Beaumont, of Grace Dieu, co. Leicester, esq., and had issue,

EDWARD, 4th baron, m. Elizabeth, da. of Thomas, earl of Suffolk, and widow of William, earl of Banbury, by whom (who d. 15 April 1658) he had no legitimate issue; he d. 8 Sept. 1661, and was succeeded by his next surviving brother,

HENRY, 5th baron, who d. s.p. 20 Sept. 1663, when the barony fell into abeyance amongst the descendants of his sisters, Katherine and Mary, and so continued till 1838, when it was revived in the person of the present baron, whose descent we now proceed to state.

Sir George Simeon, of Brightwell, co. Oxon, left by his 1st wife, Mary Vaux, before mentioned, two das. and co-hh., viz. Anne and Elizabeth, the latter of whom m., 1st, William Conyers, esq., by whom she had no male issue; and 2dly, Edmund, 4th viscount Mountgarret in Ireland, to whom she was 2d wife, and who d. 1679; she d. 18 Feb. 1673, having had issue by the viscount, a da., Elizabeth, and a son, Edmund Butler, of Ballyragget, esq., who m. Elizabeth, da. of George Mathew, of Thomastown, co. Tipperary, esq., and had issue,

The two following Peers were summoned to Parliament by Writ, and placed in their fathers' Baronies, on the occasion of Her Majesty's Coronation.

FRANCIS-GODOLPHIN-D'ARCY OSBORNE, (commonly called Marquess of CARMARTHEN,) BARON OSBORNE of Kiveton, co. York; born 21 May 1798; summoned to parliament by writ, June 1838, and placed in his father's barony of Osborne of Kiveton; but succeeded to the DUKEDOM of LEEDS, 10 July following, upon the decease of his father, George-William-Frederick, 6th duke of Leeds, when this barony again merged in the higher dignity; married, 24 April 1828, Louisa-Catherine, da. of Richard Caton, of Maryland, esq., widow of sir Fenton-Elwill Bathurst-Hervey, bart., and sister of the marchioness Wellesley. GEORGE-WILLIAM-FREDERICK BRUDENELL-BRUCE, (commonly called earl BRUCE,) BARON BRUCE, of Tottenham, co. Wilts; born 20 Nov. 1804; summoned to parliament by writ, July 1838, and placed in his father's barony of Bruce of Tottenham; married, 11 May 1837, Mary-Caroline, da. of George-Augustus, 11th earl of Pembroke.
