WHEN I was in Europe, con fidering the bitter cup I once drank in confequence of the doctrines of particular election and reprobation, I felt my heart drawn to return and travel the continent at large, to ftrive by the bleffings of God to remove the evils which I confidered originated therefromnamely, prefumption or defpair, befides a flood of other evils arifing from a train of doctrines which that draws after viz-Univerfalifm, Deifm, and Atheifm, as you may fee them linked together in the following fheets. it, But in attempting to do this, though I have had many trials and difcouragements to encounter, which nothing but the grace of God could have fupported me under and carried me through; yet a flood of oppofition and evil reproaches arifing from the bitter fpirits of fome. which (as love is the fpirit of religion,) |
