COMMENCEMENT OF THE NEW VOLUME.

THE completion of the Second Volume of the CONJUROR'S MAĠAZINE, furnishes us with an opportunity of repeating our thanks to our numerous Friends, and Subfcribers, who have enabled us to contribute to the revival of the fcience of Aftrology; a fcience which was ftudied by Patriarchs of the firft ages, but which, by the craft or the ignorance of Pretenders, has been expofed to much calumny and error. As the pleafures of gratitude are fcarce lefs than thofe of generofity, we are impatient to express, and defirous to have occafion to continue, the homage of our refpectful acknowledgments to all the Subfcribers and Contributors to the CONJUROR'S MAGAZINE, a Work which, by general defire, will be continued, with many improvements, under the title of the ASTROLOGER'S MAGAZINE, AND PHILOSOPHICAL MISCELLANY. Thofe fubjects which were begun in the former part of the undertaking, shall be completed in this, as foon as our room will allow, for it is our defign to promote, as far as our limits will permit, useful knowledge in all its most interesting branches, having, befides an extended correfpondence, which will yield an ample fupply of Original Matter, collected a new stock of materials, which will enable us to rescue from oblivion many valuable little pieces-treasures of art and philofophical literature-which lay concealed in bulky and expenfive volumes, among other things of a different nature. In fine, this Magazine. fhall contain more inftructive entertainment, and ornamental embellishment, than any other publication at the fame price. And as we have fo fully detailed our plan in the Title-page, what need we add more, but our respectable asfurance to the Public, that

All that the Sons of Science can delight.

This month has brought us an account of the fhipwreck of the Win. terton Eaft Indiaman, Captain Dundas, by which it appears that the Captain and many of the paflengers and crew were unfortunately loft. We fhould be glad if any of our correfpondents would favour us with the time when that vefiel (the Winterton was launched, for the feems to have been marked for misfortune. On her firft voyage fhe sprung a leak; on her fecond she was nearly loft within fight of port; and on the voyage before laft, the loft fifty of her crew by fickness.

IN a former number of your monthly Mifce lanyt, the title of which, in my humble opinion, you have judiciously improved, I explained the nature of Lunar Eclipfes, and endea. voured to point out the probable ef fects of that which happened the twenty fifth of February lait, in the affairs of thofe countries and cities which, according to the best authors on the predictive fcience, were likely to be obnoxious to its influence.
