June is the first months do we have?

JUNE LESSONS.

summer month. How many summer What are the others? What month of the year is June? How many days in June? Are the days growing longer or shorter now? How can you tell? Are the days or nights longer? What comes about the middle of this month that we are all very glad to have? (Vacation.) How many days will it be before vacation? June is called the month of roses. Why? Have any roses come yet? Have the rose bushes budded? Examine the bushes when you go home. What are our lessons to be with this month? What will we have this month that we have not had many of before?

April brought us buds.

Characteristics of flowers.

Talk about the work of roots, stems, leaves and blossoms for each other. Compare plants with people about us. They eat, sleep, and work, as people do.

Plants have certain foods which they prefer, and upon which they thrive best. Call attention to the way the farmer is obliged to change the crops of certain fields in order to give the plants the food they should have.

Plants are like people in preferring certain localities. Some prefer to live on the prairies, some on the mountains, some in a dry soil, others prefer damp or shady places, some love sunshine.

Talk about their partners, the bees and butterflies, and of their interdependence, how they can be useful to each other and to man.

Speak of the care given to plants and bees and of their use.
