2.

Darkness and cloud, of awful shade,
His dazzling glory shroud in state;
Judgment and righteousness are made
The habitation of his seat.

3.

For thou, O God, art seated high,
Above earth's potentates enthroned;
Thou, Lord, unrivaled in the sky,
Supreme by all the gods art owned.

HYMN 66. L. M.

WEET is the work, my God, my King,

sing;

To show thy love by morning light,
And talk of all thy truth at night.

2.

Sweet is the day of sacred rest;
No mortal cares shall seize my breast;
may my heart in tune be found,
Like David's harp of solemn sound.

3.

My heart shall triumph in the Lord,
And bless his works, and bless his word;
His works of grace, how bright they shine!
How deep his counsels, how divine!

4.

I then shall share a glorious part,
When grace hath well refined my heart,

And fresh supplies of joy are shed,
Like holy oil, to cheer my head.

5.

Then shall I see, and hear, and know,
All I desired or wished below;
And every power find sweet employ
In that eternal world of joy.

HYMN 67. 78.

SONGS of praise the angels sang,
Heaven with hallelujahs rang,
When Jehovah's work begun,
When he spake, and it was done.

2.

Songs of praise awoke the morn When the Prince of Peace was born; Songs of praise arose when he Captive led captivity.

3.

Heaven and earth must pass away: Songs of praise shall crown that day. God will make new heavens and earth: Songs of praise shall hail their birth.

4.

Saints below, with heart and voice,
Still in songs of praise rejoice;
Learning here, by faith and love,
Songs of praise to sing above.

5.

Borne upon their latest breath,
Songs of praise shall conquer death;
Then, amidst eternal joy,

Songs of praise their powers employ.

HYMN 68. L. M.

COME, loud anthems let us sing, Loud thanks to our Almighty King; For we our voices high should raise, When our salvation's rock we praise.

2.

Into his presence let us haste,
To thank him for his favors past;
To him address, in joyful songs,
The praise that to his Name belongs:

3.

O let us to his courts repair,

And bow with adoration there;
Down on our knees, devoutly, all,
Before the Lord, our Maker, fall.

For he's our God, our Shepherd he,
His flock and pasture-sheep are we:
O then, ye faithful flock, to-day
His warning hear, his voice obey.

CHILD

HYMN 69. 7s.

HILDREN of the heavenly King,
As ye journey sweetly sing;

Sing your Saviour's worthy praise,
Glorious in his works and ways.

2.

We are travelling home to God,
In the way our fathers trod;
They are happy now, and we
Soon their happiness shall see.

3.

Banished once, by sin betray'd,
Christ our Advocate was made;
Pardon'd now, no more we roam,
Christ conducts us to our home.

4.

Lord, obediently we go,
Gladly leaving all below;
Only thou our Leader be,
And we still will follow thee.

BEFOR

HYMN 70. L. M.

EFORE Jehovah's awful throne,
Ye nations bow with sacred joy;
Know that the Lord is God alone,
He can create, and he destroy.

2.

His sovereign power, without our aid, Made us of clay, and formed us men; And when like wandering sheep we strayed,

He brought us to his fold again.

We'll crowd thy gates with thankful songs,

High as the heavens our voices raise; And earth, with her ten thousand tongues, Shall fill thy courts with sounding praise.

4.

Wide as the world is thy command,
Vast as eternity thy love;

Firm as a rock thy truth must stand,
When rolling years shall cease to move.

HYMN 71. 8s, 78.

PART I.

GOD, my King, thy might confessing,

Ever will I bless thy Name;

Day by day thy throne addressing,
Still will I thy praise proclaim.

Honor great our God befitteth;
Who his majesty can reach?
Age to age his works transmitteth,
Age to age his power shall teach.

3.

They shall talk of all thy glory,
On thy might and greatness dwell,
Speak of thy dread acts the story,
And thy deeds of wonder tell.
