1 PART 1.
L.M. 1 AWAKE, my soul! and with the sun
A Thy daily stage of duty run;
To pay thy morning sacrifice.
And live this day as if thy last;
For the great day thyself prepare. 3 Let all thy converse be sincere;
Thy conscience as the noon-day clear ;
Thy secret thoughts, thy works and ways. 4 Wake and lift up thyself, my heart !
And with the angels bear thy part,
L.M. 1 ALORY to Thee who safe hast kept,
U And bast refreshed me while I slept ; Grant, Lord ! when I from death shall wake,
I may of endless light partake.
Scatter my sins as morning dew;
And with Thyself my spirit fill.
All I design, or do, or say;
4 Praise God, from whom all blessings flow!
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
S.M. 1 PEHOLD the morning sun
D Begins his glorious way;
And light and life convey. 2 But where the gospel shines,
It spreads diviner light;
And gives the blind their sight. 3 How perfect is Thy word,
And all Thy judgments just!
And men securely trust.
And I would fain obey;
To guide me lest I stray!
I speak Thy praise abroad,
D O to learn this lesson well!
All my sanguine hopes have planned
3 Thou my daily task shalt gire:
Day by day to Thee I live;
Not my own-my Father's will.
By the energy of prayer;
L.M. 1 TORTH in Thy name, O Lord! we go
T Our daily labour to pursue;
In all we think, or speak, or do.
( let us cheerfully fulfil;
And prove Thy good and perfect will.
And offer all our works to Thee. 4. Give us to bear Thy easy yoke,
And every moment watch and pray;
And hasten to Thy glorious day.
L.M. 1 COD of my life! through all its days
U My grateful powers shall sound Thy praise;
2 When anxious cares invade my rest,
And grief distracts my throbbing breast;
Shall check the murmur and the sigh. 3 When death o'er nature shall prevail,
And all the powers of language fail,
And mean the thanks I cannot speak. 4. But oh! when that last conflict's o'er,
And I am chained to earth no more,
L.M. I NEW every morning is the love
Our wakening and uprising prove; Through sleep and darkness safely brought,
Restored to life, and power, and thought. 2 New mercies, each returning day,
Hover around us while we pray;
New thoughts of God, new hopes of heaven. 3 If on our daily course our mind
Be get to hallow all we find,
God will provide for sacrifice.
Will furnish all we need to ask ;
To bring us daily nearer God.
Let present rapture, comfort, ease,
The secret, this, of rest below.
Fit us for perfect rest above;
. L.M. 10 JESU ! Lord of heavenly grace,
U Thou brightness of Thy Father's face,
Shower down Thy radiance from above;
The Holy Spirit's cloudless ray.
Subdue our flesh, our minds control;
And all within be joy and peace.
Let meekness be our morning ray,
And hope our sunset, calm and bright. 5 O Christ ! with each returning morn,
Thine image to our hearts is borne;
L.M. 1 THOU! to whose all-searching sight
V The darkness shineth as the light; Search, prove my heart; it pants for Thee;
Oh! burst these bonds, and set it free! 2 As through this wilderness I stray,
Be thou my Light, be Thou my Way;
If Thou, my Lord ! my God! art near.
To raise my head, and cheer my heart. 4 Teach me, where'er Thy steps I see,
Dauntless, untired, to follow Thee;
