ADDRESS VII.

The Remedy and Deliverance provided in Jesus Christ.

WHAT We considered on a former occasion respecting your spiritual wants, and your own inability to supply them, may well have stirred up the inquiry which St. Paul once made, "Oh, wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from the body of this death?" The Bible sets before us a Deliverer, and the way of deliverance in Jesus Christ, in whom is provided a remedy for all our spiritual evils, a deliverance from all our spiritual miseries. On this most important and interesting subject the Scriptures are very full of information, vouchsafed to us by the mercy of God for our peace and comfort. Some of these passages

of Scripture I will now proceed to read to you; first imploring the grace of God's Spirit to render what is thus written in his word effectual to our comfort and salvation, through faith in Jesus Christ.
