About the author (2006)

Each Frommer guide is personally researched and thoroughly updated by a single author or a small team. Our approach gives our guides a fun, personal tone and a real person’s judgments you can trust. A native of North Carolina, Darwin Porter was a bureau chief for the Miami Herald when he was 21. Since then, he has written numerous best-selling Frommer guides, notably to France, Italy, England, and Germany. He is joined in his research efforts across Portugal by Danforth Prince, who worked for the Paris bureau of the New York Times. They have traveled in and written extensively about Portugal.
